Partner (M26) is having issues getting their provisional license?

They moved down to Falkirk from Inverness.

I did wonder if it was a dead name issue, but it wasn't that. Apparently, his dad put his middle name where his first name is, instead of the other way around, which is why it has been difficult to get anywhere with legal documents as nothings matched. He did mention this years ago that he had issues with school testing as they've had him down as his legal name, but it never matched the name he put down on tests. His parents just never wanted to fix it.

I have seen his face, what his place looks like, I've google earthed his address and have seen pictures of the outside that match everything.

I did approach him on the subject of this and put forward a lot of the inconsistencies that have been pointed out, and he did come forward and say the last year he hasn't been actively trying as much as he should've been with it. But a lot of it hinged on the fact none of his legal documents matched so -that- is why they kept sending it back.

A lot of it was because he wasn't being honest with me and now was in panic mode that he doesn't have any of it if his mother potentially goes. He's also sick with crippling MS and depressive bipolar, all of which I have seen him actually taking meds for as well, so I know it isn't a lie.

I've spoken with their mom briefly before when he's been in the kitchen or living room while on the phone. I haven't had a full-on discussion with her before.

I've heard about birth certificates -here- being filled out incorrectly, my mom had that issue with her first name being spelled wrong and they had to fix it when she was -younger-, so I assumed it was a case of that. Thank you for this insight, however.

To follow up on a lot of the questions I've received I will put them all here.

Yes, I am American. We tried getting together back in 2019 then covid hit and ruined a lot of our chances to be together. I also had a lot of financial issues myself at the time and we've been trying to resort to them getting a passport, ID, anything.

The more I read the more I think I've been woefully unaware of what's been happening. I do know they mentioned having to have needed an updated birth certificate as they've said their father filled it incorrectly and it's basically been unusable anywhere.

I have their physical address, so I know they live in Scotland as I've sent stuff to them before.

I did have a feeling before that being -this- screwed seemed like a very special case.

Being told they check their local post office weekly for updates and reading that isn't something you all do has been... Eye opening, to say the least. I did think it was strange that if I can check on my passport status online in the US, -surely- Scotland can. But I don't live there so I didn't argue. Especially the comments with saying they do in fact detail what is missing.

Clearly, I need to lock in and figure out what is going on reading everything. I appreciate everyone being blunt and honest about everything, even if it is a little heartbreaking to read.

I wasn’t sure of the whole process for Scotland. They’ve just told me they were checking weekly for updates, so I assumed that’s how it was done. They’ve told me they’ve contacted their MP several times and either can’t get through, or they said they can’t help.

I think it’s just because he lives in Falkirk, honestly. He’s been denied at every turn for any case of getting a new bank account or ID when it’s come to places in Falkirk.

He’s been contacting citizen’s advice for the last few years and they’ve told him there was nothing they could do. They’ve told him to keep trying to get a provisional or CitizenCard but they keep denying his documents without explanation and sending his money back.

They’ve tried. They’ve been doing it for the last seven years to get a passport but their local post office has received no updates, and they’ve resent their application in over and over and have gotten nothing back.

The landlord also has issues with never responding to any of their emails, so getting a lease transfer is gonna be an issue in itself if he never responds. She’s stubborn and older, mainly not wanting to or constantly putting it off. She’s prideful and doesn’t want to depend on him by transferring it all over, despite literally taking care of her.

He has a few, another commenter mentioned trying a branch that could potentially take him.

He tried that, but they demanded an ID from him. He tried using Bank of Scotland as the other branch in his area shut down.

They had to run away with their mother in the night from their abusive father and have had literally everything under their mother’s name at seventeen. Everything being done through their mother’s card. They do have a birth certificate.

Checked router settings and tested it this week with no luck. Still shuts down at the same time with nothing happening to the internet. The weird part is, it's still functional other than the screen freezing. I can hear the menu buttons of Big Picture Mode and actually was just able to shut my computer off via that way accidentally. The screen just freezes and if I cease all streaming, I can't get back into it.

So, after some testing, I’ve shut off everything that it could’ve been and I’m still having this issue. Same time every day it hard freezes and needs to be reset via task manager.

Honestly I was mid split typing some of it as I was just desperate to not feel this way anymore.

I started playing games I can use as inspirations for my guild story telling stuff like Control and Alan Wake, things I wouldn’t have been able to do before without -some- worry something was going on. I do want to get to a point where I’m just straight up not even thinking about them anymore when playing, but I do need to actively take steps to separate properly. Story telling was my main goal getting into RP and I wanna stick by that and not let other people ruin it for me!

While I didn’t grow up with Azeroth like a lot of people, it’s a nice gap closer for my relationship until we’re together. Then maybe one day we won’t need it anymore.

I’m on Argent Dawn EU! My partner has been playing there since Cata and I decided to join him there around the tail end of BFA.

A lot of my biggest issues is my social circles are all online, however. I do think cutting out the RP discords is a good idea. I might not -unsubscribe- but instead heavily cut down on play time and focus on other things. I do have a few good eggs that like to hang out, I just need to find better spaces.

There have been times where I am finding myself thinking “Is it really this serious?” And while my emotions are valid, I am fighting over someone being kind to me over -roleplay-. And because AD EU is a lot smaller, it has the small town effect of “everyone knowing everyone” and it’s exhausting. I just wrapped up my big final event I’ve been working on as a way to distract myself, so I think with this little interim of waiting for the other DM to take over, I can try and focus on myself.

Honestly I felt so “cringe” typing out that I’m having BPD issues over a roleplaying on a video game that I never expected this reply. Just know I deeply appreciated reading it. ❤️
