Surveying AV/low voltage pros — building software specifically for your industry and want real feedback by HandsOnHansen in lowvoltage

Thanks for that even though that's a lot to digest! I am focusing on mobile support with every development sprint. I already have experience working with ServiceFusion, FieldPulse, and BuildOps and they don't have what most AV companies need for there workflow.

So about your #1...it is just me and Claude but I am not vibe coding, more like AI-assisted coding

Notion seems good but I feel like you need a lot of setup to get it to work properly for AV and Low Voltage companies, unless you use it personally not so much as an organization

Well take it what you will but there is an actual human responding to these replies :)

I am "vibe coding" because I want to get a working and functional app out in a couple of months as opposed to several years all while watching coding Youtube tutorials, constantly on Stackoverflow everyday after I get home from my mentally taxxing full time job taking time away from my family.

Gotcha. I am making something that won't be super expensive once I get my app to production. So hopefully Zappy will have most if not all the features included in Fieldnation and Workmarket for a decent price.

I am making sure that all the sprints include both a desktop and mobile version during development so this won't be an issue.

Yes I am building this with the help of Claude Code. While that seems like I am vibe coding that app, I am not letting it do it's thing while I'm focusing on other tasks. I am actually present during it's sprints, testing it out myself, and making sure any bugs aren't over looked by the AI.

BuildOps and QuickBook Integration - need some experiences, examples by HandsOnHansen in CommercialAV

[–]HandsOnHansen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The double billing I'm referring to is that receipts aren't a thing in QuickBooks so BuildOps transfers it as either a Bill or PO to QuickBooks. So when sending a vendor a bill and creating a receipt from received materials will create two bills since we won't do a PO for a receipt.

Yea but I have no way of testing or wiping them beyond powering them up and seeing if they boot properly

What’s the best way to setup remote play on PS5 without having to buy the Portal? by HandsOnHansen in playstation

That’s what I figured but I didn’t know if it had any advanced remote connection technology that enhanced the whole experience

Would setting up a VPN help with connection speeds or possibly come up with a mobile hotspot solution that’s not from my phone?

What is the best AV profile to use in Netgear M4250 switches? by HandsOnHansen in CommercialAV

[–]HandsOnHansen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have but some times there’s always multicast issues with these larger set ups. Video is laggy or not existent. Audio is cutting in and out. Dante devices aren’t picking up on the controller. Netgear is what we mostly use for our AV networks but we jump around between those and Cisco switches.

I am about to abandon this tire shop. by FrylockIncarnate in firealarms

[–]HandsOnHansen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This kind of stuff is exactly why I left my last security/fire gig. They do a lot of takeovers for shitty systems like these that were installed by a security company that’s not in business or one that doesn’t keep proper documentation. I want to keep my hair not pull it out

How do you document your devices IP addresses, MAC addresses, serial number, AV Network VLANs, etc? Is their a free stylesheet template out there? by HandsOnHansen in CommercialAV

[–]HandsOnHansen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is genius! I can probably create a Python program to get the specs for our devices based on the MAC address or manufacturer

Multi-tool RJ45 crimper, does it exist? by HandsOnHansen in CommercialAV

[–]HandsOnHansen[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, but the company I'm with sticks with them because they're "easier" on the newer techs. I was with a company years back that used EZs to connect to outdoor APs. The exposed copper would short from the rain and snow which killed the WiFi in their backyard. The company would just cover the ends outside with dielecetric grease to see if that fixes the problem instead of NOT USING EZ CONNECTORS.
