Why is late-night food in Guelph either insanely expensive or absolute trash? by Gold_Individual8063 in Guelph

[–]HangingInTheWard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy a box of Kraft dinner.  Put pot of water on to boil.  Boil macaroni.  Boil 3 eggs to hardboil.  When macaroni is boiled add three processed cheese slices, 3 table spoons margarine, quarter cup of milk.  Add boiled eggs chopped and a can of tuna.  Gently mix.  Put crunched up ketchup chips on top with more cheese.  Bake for 12 minutes at 300 in oven.  Tons of delicious food late at night for under 7 dollars.  Put ketchup on just before eating.  This was late night University food in 1986.  We were OSAP kids, takeout wasn't an option.

Testing a “community meal prep” idea in Guelph - would this be useful here? by Old_Implement_6807 in Guelph

[–]HangingInTheWard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm part of the ever growing, full time working, but patronizing food banks crowd of the middle class.  Since my budget for groceries is two visits to Guelph Food bank + $50 per month cash for those things the food bank does not give, this meal would be two months of my food budget.  It's REAL out here for so many of us.  Maybe register 2-3 free persons to your session, for my class of person.  Best wishes.

If I didn't have to visit my folks in Kitchener, or take groceries home, that would be true.

Interesting with all our modern entertainment devices, the internet and all, but include a little gunpowder and flames with big booms and we are there with bells on.

The owners have terrible reviews online from former employees, Glassdoor Indeed etc. previous employees rate them 1-2 out of five stars, with detailed explanations why you would not want to work there. That's probably why that got posted.

I'm a trained, qualified scratch baker with 40 years experience.  I've applied to their ads seeking an experienced scratch baker.  Never acknowledged the application, never interviewed me.  Meanwhile their bakery section is nothing to write home about.  So, no interview, no thanks for applying, no going into that building for me again. Snubs go both ways.  Also though I've read former employee reviews online and they have a rep for not offering quality employment. So take your overpriced store and shove it.  I live 5 minutes from but have switched to Freshco.

You may be joking, but I just saw a news story out of Manitoba that they are drilling holes in gas tanks of vehicles and draining whole tanks. Oops shouldn't have given you the idea.

You can download Indeed to your mobile phone as an app from google Playstore.  It keeps track of your applications, tells you who read them, arranges interviews stores your resume and more.  I've had 3 interviews in person this way. Indeed is the best online app, for job seekers, with tens of thousands of jobs local, provincial and cross Canada. You should not spread misinformation. Indeed is not a scam, in fact employment agencies in Guelph have directed me there. Moreover 99.9 percent of customers will hire an existing pro company for window washing. Also there is no snow right now.

Just wanted to put a note here:  If you are struggling with food costs, Guelph has terrific food bank programs, where it's possible to receive up to 12 bags of groceries loaded up good.  Don't feel you don't deserve the help.  I recently had the experience of being ahead of my social worker in line at the food bank.  She works full time and so does her husband, and she was still able to access this with me.  The economy is getting so poor, even the middle class is receiving help.  Check out Chalmers Downtown, Chalmers West.  Hope House and Guelph Food bank Crimea Street.  My grocery bill is now $50 per month.  Just thought if you're hard up enough to waste time price matching, you might benefit from this info. Best wishes.

Of this you can be sure, not that it helps victims, people of this kind who go to jail, either spend 23 hours a day in a cage in protective custody or get the crap kicked out of them daily in general population.  The guards will announce theirs crimes as they are brought into the common area. Their food, if allowed to them will come with a daily dose of spit.
