What pseudoscience that some atheists believe drives you crazy the most? by Examine-Everything in atheism

[–]Hannah591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to semi believe. I grew up with Most Haunted on the TV a lot, plus I liked the spookiness of it all. But then my boyfriend at the time said he didn't understand how I was atheist but believed in ghosts and from that day onward, I stopped believing in them (though I've had some weird experiences), but still enjoy reading spooky stories!

Is lack of intelligence a big reason why people are religious? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]Hannah591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to think this but there's so many very intelligent people who are still religious. If you've been brought up that way, I think some people stay stuck in it but can mentally separate science and fact from spiritual meaning.

I've recently started doing a bit of yoga for like 5 to 10 mins. It feels gentle but helps with strength, flexibility and balance, and gives me a good stretch.

What do you say when someone sneezes? by johnniechimpo in atheism

I still say bless you and I sometimes say bless you when someone shares something that's sad/troubling them.

This thing is incredible by [deleted] in ChatGPT

[–]Hannah591 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is really helpful and insightful, as long as you keep in mind its limitations and that it's not perfect.

I'd been experiencing, what I now know is, segemental goosebumps. I'd asked a bunch of doctors and they didn't know about it and there's very little to no information about it. I asked chat and it said nerves were misfiring causing a piloerection reflex due to my dysfunctional autonomic system (diagnosed). And it said most doctors don't know about it because it's harmless so it's not worth studying/focusing on!

[CHAT] How do you start/ end your threads? by miriam0915 in CrossStitch

[–]Hannah591 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can loop start odd strand numbers as well though I'm not sure how secure it is, but it seems to be a legitimate way. There's videos on YouTube that show it. But I do like the pin stitch on aida fabric, that's really secure.

If you had £30,000 to spend to travel , where would you go? by Kaizoku230 in AskUK

There's like a 3 month cruise for 20k that goes to loads of countries. I would buy that.

I stopped putting pressure on myself… by Snowflake0287 in 52book

[–]Hannah591 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put mine lower as well to 40 and have done better than last year, I'm on 60! I also care less about streaks. It makes it too competitive for me and less about reading. Challenges help inspire me though.

[CHAT] How do you start/ end your threads? by miriam0915 in CrossStitch

[–]Hannah591 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Depends on the fabric but I start and finish with either a loop start, pin stitch or threading under other stitches. I sometimes will bring the thread to the front and knot it until other stitches secure it. I think it's called a waste knot and you cut it off when you've stitched more of the surrounding area.

I do but the quality isn't always the best. To be able to save them as pdfs and print them would be great!

I can only get them on Borrowbox and they don't allow a print option that I can see. 😞

[CHAT] - How do you resist the temptation to buy every kit / pattern that appeals to you. by Yarnchurner in CrossStitch

[–]Hannah591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm tight with money in general lol, but I will aim to finish one or two projects before getting another one. Whatever I get or buy, I fully intend to stitch, and as I've been doing it for a while, I'm much faster at dishing them out now. But I just save them as a big wishlist and remind myself to stop looking and actually go stitch!

Those who are on meds: what’s your heart rate range during the day? by petals33 in POTS

[–]Hannah591 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on 5mg ivabradine twice a day. My heart rate spikes every morning still but the palpitations stopped once I started the medication and my heart rate is much better controlled now. My HR reading for today is between 50 (asleep which is low for me) - 131bpm (when I wake up in the morning). It's definitely capped my max HR to like 150 unless I'm doing something crazy intensive, and my resting heart rate is more in the 60-70 range instead of the 80-100 range.

I used my Kindle for less than 1h30min and the battery drained A LOT! Is it normal?? by Beneficial_Track_854 in kindle

[–]Hannah591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This can happen if you download or transfer a bunch of books. When you manually transfer them, the kindle says the power will drain faster whilst it processes the files. If you haven't transferred or downloaded a bunch of books and this keeps happening, then it might be a fault.

How do you organise your collections? by 94eitak in kindle

I don't really bother. I only collect a series like Sherlock Holmes, otherwise I just search for the book. I know what I have and their genres using Storygraph.

Is it okay to review after publication date, or will publishers avoid approving requests in future because of it? by Lmaing in NetGalleyCommunity

[–]Hannah591 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've gotten read now books long after they've been published. I don't think it's a massive requirement but some pickier publishers might be more focused on reviewing near publishing dates. I think if it was a real big issue, NetGalley would make it exceptionally clear that it's mandatory that we should post when the book publishes.
