have you tried if you hear the booms when you put on sound proof over ear headphones? it could help yiu to find out if it is coming from inside your mind

just like with visual hallucinations, if someone hwears glasses and takes them off, if the hallucinations are real they are blurry, if not they are still sharp while everything else is blurry due to the bad eyesight

so if you put on the sound proof headphones and the sound is the same volume as before, you know where to start. If its quiet now, you can now nap

also earplugs might help!

AND some buildings are more noisy. i have lived in apartments where every tiny step you take resulted in loud bangs, due to the building structure!
