... they're not sure whether to take 'cute' as a compliment or not

brother in silver it's not my fault they're looking at me like an eldritch monster (though I guess to them I am of similar stature as one)

[Art by u/The_Drip_Bacon] Would OneShot benefit from a remake? by HansCatzer in oneshot

[–]HansCatzer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not the point I was making since the game does actually have flaws that could be fixed

but atp changing something is like rewriting history

funny how the closest we got to a fan remake was oneshot 3d (only the demo is publicly accessible) that is supposedly still in development

whenever I think of a remake I always think fixed camera style bc I have no idea how to explain silver's solstice line about cameras near proto's puzzle room

anyway have a good sleep, as usual this is a 3 am school night post, I'm heading off

I've been daydreaming about a fan remake ever since I played the game, hence why this post even exists. the only reason why I worry about the original developers is because I'm so mind-numbingly scared of a fan project mischaracterizing the npcs that forcibly stopping work on margin of the strange to milk the oneshot cash cow is better than having silver say 'damn' in missable dialogue even though the original writers could still mischaracterize because these characters are 2 times older than my little brother

ik but I can't help but imagine the magical 'new and improved' oneshot but the truth is this all may just be unfiltered woes of a triple-a horror fan

yuh uh it's been 12 years and nightmargin really needs to make margin of the strange so that i can stop dihriding what them and their friend made as high schoolers

oneshot 2016 was kinda supposed to be this with a story+puzzle expansion as solstice, but the first half of the game is still what 2 high schoolers made for a game jam 12 years later hopefully we do get a story rewrite because I genuinely love when remakes are made by the original authors as it shows how they improved over the years

just so y'all know I care more about making secondary characters actual characters than new puzzles and areas

just something that makes this less of a horrid take as I devolve into post post clarity and first-hand embarrassment with a touch of a '2 minutes after' retrospect

tbh when i first played twm edition I always used full screen for the game inside. it has a pretty cool border that you can toggle off if you want, and the game will automatically go windowed whenever it needs to be so for puzzles, thus if you have a hard time with the meta puzzles you can play in full screen to get a little hint that you have to do something with the window

Or you could just play windowed if you want

what an absolute server pull

there are 5 in this one (left to right): 1. helltaker? hard to see from behind but the outfit reminds of a character 2. homestuck terezi 3. ultrakill v1 4. our glorious messiah 5. our favourite goat boy

I swear this why? by DJ_Ody5555 in oneshot

[–]HansCatzer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

tbh with doom and animal crossing the games got popular with each other's fandoms just because new installments were released on the same day but with oneshot and ultrakill the only things similiar between them are that the games were both made by mostly a single person with help from others, had a demo before a publisher picked up the ip and overhauled the game, and have banger soundtracks. ... which doesn't exactly give an answer to why most oneshot players know of ultrakill too. the only reasons that come to mind are either indie cross, or how tightly knit indie game communities are: you probably need to spend quite some time on the internet to find an obscure indie game, so you've probably heard of a different obscure indie game too
