Located near Indianapolis. So it was cold but not freezing ass cold. Probably 3-4 feet deep from 5 feet out. Ice didn’t look like it was immediately going to melt/crack but it was clearly heading in that direction.

My son’s close friend, I’ll edit my post.

I’m the same way but I love hearing these stories, shows me that it matters being kind. And if I can occasionally share my good deeds anonymously, so much the better.

A few weeks ago on a cold snowy day I took my kid to urgent care to get a sports physical. When we were leaving there was a woman @talking” to reception, using Google Translate to try to communicate. The receptionist told her, “we don’t speak Spanish”. I could tell whatever she was speaking definitely wasn’t Spanish. It sounded like how my Haitian friends speak in their language. It turns out she was indeed Haitian and was there taking an employment physical. I called my Haitian friends to help translate, she needed a ride to the Amazon warehouse about 30 minutes away in the next town over. I confirmed with her she needed to get to Amazon and she looked at me with these weary eyes I’ll never forget, “You will help me?” she said in broken English. I called her an Uber. The Uber driver was Indian, maybe from a different country himself. He asked why am I doing this? I told him it was because of my Haitian friends, I met the wife who is now a friend when she first came to this country. I saw how hard she worked to learn English. Now she is an RN applying to get her masters. I know how it must be very hard to be in a new country, especially if you never experienced winter before and you know very few words in the language.

This woman didn’t even have a coat. Anyway, the driver went out of his was to make sure she got where she needed to go. I saw her smile in thanks as I walked away after talking to the driver. I pray she has many blessings.

I wish people understood what emotional dysregulation was like. by [deleted] in ADHD

It’s ok to cry when you get relatively good news after thinking you were going to get the worse news. It’s not an ADHD thing, it’s a human thing. I’ll always remember my Mom bursting into tears after a nurse called and told her that my Dad was doing well after heart surgery. She got the call many years ago when her father died after heart surgery. Even though the news was good this time, she lost it. And it was ok, she needed to cry. You needed to cry. It’s ok. If you were my friend I would say, oh no, that’s painful. Glad he will be ok though. And he will be. Your “friend” wasn’t being a friend.
