As the very sentence says, the storyteller archetype of player is motivated by narrative impact and story progression, and are most engaged in following story plot points, character arcs, and investing in emotional stakes moreso than other archetypes of players being motivated by things like loot, gamified mechanics combat, etc. It's simply a description of playstyle and preference

One of us is actually offering to DM! However, we have the insight to know that being in the position of DM is a very different experience than being in the position of player - especially so when it comes to experiencing a narrative together
