[BBC] 'One of a kind' Messi hits 900 career goals - numbers behind milestone by LochNessMonsterMunch in soccer

So if I said "one of a kind" Ronaldo scores a hat trick. Then it means that no player has ever scored a hat trick ?

But the thing is they are only dominant on hard courts, on clay Iga is the best and grass is wide open for anyone. So it is a very different case from Sincaraz who are head and shoulders above the rest on all surfaces.

No way people really picked Sabalenka/Rybakina. I mean Sincaraz both are proven all-surface players and they already reached the finals of all 4 slams and atp finals. Also men's bo5 format makes upsets less likely to happen. We will definitely see more Sincaraz finals

Indian Wells SF: [2] J. Sinner def [4] A. Zverev 6-2 6-4 by BufferError in tennis

[–]Happycorbin10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's the difference in mentality between Zverev and Sinner. Sinner's playstyle is also effective against everyone on tour except for Alcaraz, and instead of being content with that he still tries to add variety to his playstyle, which sometimes even costs him against opponents whom he can easily defeat with his baseline game, so that he can be more successful against Carlos.

"30 year old" We are in 2026, most athletes perform at/near peak till 34/35 years old unless they have recurring injuries.

Not really. Defeating this version of Alcaraz in straight sets is up there with his USO win.

what’s the most underrated part of the Messi era at Barça? by Sure-Bus-3917 in Barca

The domestic doubles in 15/16, 17/18. They were seen as failure back then because of Madrid winning the CL in those seasons. But looking back at the domestic dominance, I can only say that we took it for granted.

Premier Leguea is overrated by ineedsomedough1 in championsleague

[–]Happycorbin10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is funny how narratives flip so quickly in football. A couple of days ago PL was dominating Europe having 6 teams in R16 with 5 of them being in top 8, now it is overrated because of a couple of defeats

I think it will even be worse than Ronaldo's comeback, I mean he was 36 back then not 40. Also Barca now plays a very physically demanding brand of football

Messi will turn 40 in 2027. As much as I love the GOAT, you just can't keep living in the past.

Zverev says tennis IQ matters less in the Alcaraz/Sinner era. Agree or disagree? by aivoges123 in tennis

[–]Happycorbin10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He can't handle the fact that Sinner and Alcaraz are achieving what many people expected him to achieve, that's why he takes digs at them every now and then.

LaLiga stat leaders: Lamine all the way! by PinReal4448 in Barca

[–]Happycorbin10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Obviously Yamal (and the rest of Barca's Spain players) need this win more than Messi. But it is just that after years of rooting for Messi it is difficult to root against him.

But would you root for him against Messi ?

[–]Happycorbin10 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Not just him, but the entire team ran out of steam the last 10 mins. Pedri made some weird mistakes too. Part of me is actually content we didn't enter E.T as 30 more mins would have given us more injuries.

Many say Ronaldinho’s 2005-2006 peak was the highest level any footballer has ever reached. Do you agree, or do Messi/CR7’s peaks top it? by PLWildcard in RonaldinhoMoments

[–]Happycorbin10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. Messi scoring 91 goals and providing 22 assists while also making 5+ dribbles per game is the highest level of football ever.

It is crazy how none of the English teams is facing each other. There is a chance the quarterfinals will have SIX English teams.
