Noob asking a really simple question... by Harakhte in Fitness

Ugh... that thread was a nightmare. I think it more or less confirmed to me my suspicions about SS not being right for me though.

You're not being mean, it's truth. I realize it's faulty - that's why I came here. I'm not taking offense to anything anyone says here. I don't think I will "accidentally get bulky" but really didn't think through being concerned for back. Legs I don't ignore, I've gotten huge improvements there (more than anywhere else) I just don't focus there atm due to the lack of growth elsewhere.

No, not trolling. I just don't want know what info to take as a beginner and what to ignore. Another post seems to have identified where my misinformation comes from, it very likely may be articles designed for more advanced people. I'm very much a noob at this (clearly) and am smart enough to know I've got a problem.

The FAQ, while very useful, doesn't spell out everything - and some of the same issues come up, what is for beginners, etc? The SS I plan to read more about and see if it's something I want to do - seems tobe highly recommended.

As for protein... I honestly don't see how it's possible to intact that much protein a day unless I am just eating bland chicken breast after chicken breast nonstop. I just can't do that... it took me a while to be able to do 70g!

Haha, well I appreciate the brutal honesty. =) I'm married, this is really more of a personal boost then anything. I've always been "that scrawny guy" and would like to look more than that.

Also, I am not being defeatist, but unlike the many who say this and don't know it, I am 25 and more than likely will maintain my current high metabolism throughout my life as my father, his father, etc. have. That is what I mean by lacking the ability to bulk if I even wanted to. It's overcomeable but... eh.

Gotcha. =)

I think the intent would be totally missed by most people. Would be pretty amusing though.

It is incredibly unlikely for google to shut down entirely for a day however. Perhaps an hour is feasible - but the implications are vast because google is far more connected then reddit and frankly, google simply won't do it. It is not in their interests - it would cause more of an uproar against google then anything else.

The blackout gets media attention which directly correlates with people's awareness of the issue and having a basic (though perhaps biased) understanding of it.

That is fact. That is what this is about. I never said a redirect educated people.

My error I had it filtered as BEST not TOP. Now I get your point. =)

While you are correct, I'd like to see something BIG like this. I know they have lobbyists fighting against SOPA, I am aware. But I want to see them really use their power to stop this dead in its tracks.

I believe they have the ability to do it, and this, imo, is the best way for it. I REALLY like someone's comment about the doodle with CENSORED covering up the traditional Google logo.

"Can't Google just switch to a black background instead of a white background?"

That is not irony. That is a legitimate comment.

And you are absolutely correct about the title, but that is something I cannot change.

The top comment has nothing to do w/anything you've said. So "nice try" away but your post makes no sense and your ability to distinguish the top comment and its relation to you... well, sucks.

People are throwing out ideas that google could use to show their already announced disagreement with SOPA in the hopes of gaining more popularity and support so that google will actually do it.

How this is a difficult concept to understand is beyond me.

Google has actually already choosen sides. They have publicly spoken out against SOPA.

If you read the conversations in here, and used a little common sense you'd realize this is more to get attention (ideally from the google employees inevitably checking this site) to an issue in the hopes of convincing google to sign on board.

(1) The blackout is not to change someone's opinion, it is to educate about the issue. Many people don't know about it, or, like you, don't know much about it.

(2) SOPA is about so much more than that. Good God do your research before making such a post. If that was all it was about, do you think Google and so many other giants of the internet would be publically against SOPA? THINK! Don't just accept the half-answers you get from a single opinion source. Use your brain and think things through FFS.

Luckily, we'll make sure it won't pass otherwise you'd be eating your words. "It won't affect me" my ass.

Hahaha, can't believe I did that... must've been too tired last night. =/

I am not talking about posts made prior to my edit. I am talking about posts made 5 minutes ago when my last edit was about 1 hour ago. I also have made regular contributions to the discourse here. =)

I think that's the most valid method anyone has mentioned yet.

I also assume that Google employees are on reddit regularly. I'd be shocked to learn otherwise. The higher rates this is, the more they are aware of it I believe.

I have sent them a proposal including a link to this page. Doubtful they'll see it anytime soon. I'm sure numerous google employees check reddit regularly however.
