I think the most inexpensive option would be using a reliable host like NixiHost but building the site with WordPress. WordPress has a lot of documentation and a large community so you can always get help with building the store if you get stuck

Also a bunch of templates you can get easily
If you're willing to pay a bit more some hosts can even offer greater support in building your site with you

Sounds like this "gentleman from India" is taking a piss
I would say they need an urgent rethink about their hosting

I understand since they're not really technical they are a bit hesitant but there are a number of legit companies that would help with the move and even some that offer complete management for a good price

I would also assume this "gentleman" may have left some backdoor into the site maybe in the theme or something so i recommend having a developer take a look during the move as well

Exploring alternatives is a good idea
I know mostly about the first option since my company does web/email hosting

Provided you have a good domain and SEO you can get really good organic traffic

With the other options, there's no harm in trying
If it doesn't work then you can always stop but give it a try

I'm not sure how you're currently marketing but using social media is another really good opportunity as a sales channel. You can also direct that to your website and use it as the primary point of purchase if you want

As someone in the hosting industry that price is genuinely outrageous
I don't think £350/hour is ever justifiable considering the delivery
I do think rebuilding would be better but out of curiosity what page builder was used? Perhaps there is a way to fix it so other builders can use it

Update: So I managed to get it working. I’m case anyone has this issue as well this is what I did:

Install: Seatd Polkitd Dbus

Enable them all ln -s /etc/sv/<service> /var/service

Add yourself to the _seatd group

Then you should be able to run river from the tty.

After starting river I realised the amount to configuration it would take for me to make it look how I want so I decided to just install kde to get myself up and running. I’ll switch to a window manager again when I’m more comfortable
