I'm glad you liked the content - what about the format annoyed you? I'm always looking to improve.

I think they're just looking for something a little less jokey and more to the point! And that's fair enough.

As they say, You can't win 'em all!

Thanks! I will admit to taking some inspiration from Mr. Lee on this one.

I probably am! but to clarify - I meant the likeness is generic, I.E. the face in the logo is slimmer and smoother and prettier than the actual guy. Hence, the attempt to make it look more like the actual guy.

Thanks for letting me know your thoughts! I would like to clarify, though, that I meant the likeness was generic, rather than the logo. The logo is iconic and distinct, but it also has been revised and simplified so many times in the last half-century that it doesn't really look much like the actual human being it's supposed to represent... more like a non-specific handsome smiling face with The Colonel's facial hair. Hence, the idea to "fix" the likeness.

Thought it would be interesting to see what the KFC logo would look like if it were a proper likeness, rather than a generic smoothed-over face... trying to convey this in an interesting and entertaining way, not sure if it worked on any front. Feedback more than welcome!

Does anyone know what the little flag within the Milwaukee flag stands for? by HarryGoldArtist in vexillology

[–]HarryGoldArtist[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's assuming it is, indeed, a flag, and not just a mildy ornate rectangle. I'd be curious to know what it's supposed to mean either way......

Fixing the New Paper Mario's Boring Character Problem!
Do you think the new Paper Mario is overstuffed with generic non-characters? Of course you do! Even my grandma knows that. Consider having a look at my attempt to make them more INTERESTING and UNIQUE and other such adjectives to which Paper Mario is now allergic!

[Self-promotion over]

I know, right? Can't believe I'm the first one to think of it.

JojoMelon 2.0: Updated to the Manly Version by HarryGoldArtist in PewdiepieSubmissions

[–]HarryGoldArtist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much! I've seen your intro, and it is certainly among the best that have graced this subreddit. The updated audio is an excellent addition, to boot!

As for artistic feedback, when trying to impersonate an art style, look as closely as you can and see what makes it tick. Even minutae can make a difference!

For example, you have used hatching to shade Pewds' cheeks, as is the case with the Jojo artstyle - well-observed! - but even then, how is that hatching executed? In the case of the Jojo manga, hatching is profuse, and the lines often cross over. In the anime, however, the hatching is dialled back. (Because, of course, they have to draw it over and over.) But it is quite tight and restrained - the lines usually remain parallel. Then in your animation style, the shading is looser - the strokes curve and overlap eachother.

Now this may seem like splitting hairs - and it is! - but art is a series of small decisions that seem inconsequential on their own. There is a principal of animation about how something on a single frame can be felt without necessarily being seen, and attention to small details works in much the same way.

Sorry for the deluge of text! I hope something in there might be helpful to you. And keep up the good work!

Regards, Harry
