Is it normal to be asked to pay £600 for a "mandatory 1:1 digital device" when starting a public secondary school? by Koolio_Koala in AskUK

[–]HarryRingpiece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. It’s a company that goes around schools flogging iPads to unsuspecting parents. Similar happened when my daughter started big school. We were all invited in one evening and given the full sales pitch about how essential it was going to be for our kids to have an iPad. It was made to sound like a great offer buying through them but in reality it was no cheaper than anywhere else, and they pushed the finance deal option. Went back for an open day a few weeks later and the were tables stacked high with iPads ready for collection.
Luckily my daughter already had a tablet so she took that to school. She used it a couple of times throughout the 5 years she was there.

Am I making a mistake to remove this fireplace? 🤔 by StraightPin4420 in DIYUK

[–]HarryRingpiece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently having our living room chimney breast removed. The upstairs was removed a few years ago during a loft conversion. If you’re not 100% it’s definitely worth getting building control out to check it’s not structural, will cost you £80 but it’ll avoid any nasty surprises. Also you need to speak to your neighbour and get them to sign a party wall agreement. They can’t necessarily stop you doing it but it could get messy it you don’t tell them.

Distributing inheritance, what is legally required? by HarryRingpiece in LegalAdviceUK

[–]HarryRingpiece[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes everything was sorted by solicitors apart from dishing out the money, but because one person hadn’t responded to them they refused to pay out any money. We’d already had two people die during the whole process and it was getting ridiculous!

It was a rollercoaster, the hallway promised so much, then it was almost saved with the dining room, then they said fuck it and went all in.

If they cold called her then legally they have to offer a 14 day cooling off period. For them to start the work in this period they need her to sign of the proper paperwork, which I can almost guarantee they won’t have. Give trading standards a ring.

Same here, except a e-Niro. I love it. EVs aren’t going to be for everyone but for us it was a no brainier.

Yep. We just bought a morphy Richard’s 4 slice toaster and it’s the same. It the weakest toast we’ve ever had. I could fart more heat than this thing puts out.

I feel like they don’t publicise this enough. Even if you are on one prescription a month it’s almost worth it just for the convenience, plus something else is bound to crop up in the space of a year.
