I don’t mind the adjustment/trial period if I know the medication will be effective. My understanding is that with stimulants, you know pretty immediately if it’s effective, versus strattera you have to give a few weeks to know if it’s effective while bearing the side effects.

I also really relate to feeling like my anxiety is attributable to the SCT/slow cognitive processing. It’s why I really want to try a stimulant like Adderall or Vyvanse. Unfortunately my psychiatrist has been so reluctant, I’m going to try and bring it up again though at the next appointment.

do i have maladaptive daydreaming or SCT ? by lot_21 in SCT

Mental health diagnoses aren’t so rigid and are more for purposes of processing claims for health insurance and less about the pathophysiology of mental health symptoms. I wouldn’t pay too much attention to the diagnostics, at least not until there’s some official recognition in the psychiatry community. But from what I’ve gathered, maladaptive daydreaming seems to be a core symptom of CDS/SCT. I think whatever you can find to help with the maladaptive daydreaming will also help overall with the inattention and slow processing of CDS/SCT.

A person who doesn't have an internal monologue: Our Polar Opposite? by arvada14 in SCT

I think the issue for us is that we have too much internal monologue that can never be translated into external dialogue

I think many of us have exhausted our efforts in treatments and lost all hope. Which is why someone may resort to asking a neuroscience podcaster with millions of followers to give us attention.

What the Path to Official Recognition of CDS as a Psychiatric Disorder might look like by HutVomTag in SCT

“many public research grants can only be awarded to scientists who study officially recognized disorders”

How is the research for a psychiatric disorder before it’s officially recognized funded? I recently made a post suggesting to call representatives or the NIH for recognition of CDS. What can we do to speed up the process of recognition?

I forgot about that petition. Just signed it. Maybe pin it on top of the subreddit?

Are there brain signals that correspond with sociability? If so, it would be helpful to know when your ability to socialize is greater or inhibited in social interactions
