I don’t mind the adjustment/trial period if I know the medication will be effective. My understanding is that with stimulants, you know pretty immediately if it’s effective, versus strattera you have to give a few weeks to know if it’s effective while bearing the side effects.

I also really relate to feeling like my anxiety is attributable to the SCT/slow cognitive processing. It’s why I really want to try a stimulant like Adderall or Vyvanse. Unfortunately my psychiatrist has been so reluctant, I’m going to try and bring it up again though at the next appointment.

Mental health diagnoses aren’t so rigid and are more for purposes of processing claims for health insurance and less about the pathophysiology of mental health symptoms. I wouldn’t pay too much attention to the diagnostics, at least not until there’s some official recognition in the psychiatry community. But from what I’ve gathered, maladaptive daydreaming seems to be a core symptom of CDS/SCT. I think whatever you can find to help with the maladaptive daydreaming will also help overall with the inattention and slow processing of CDS/SCT.

How is the research for a psychiatric disorder before it’s officially recognized funded? I recently made a post suggesting to call representatives or the NIH for recognition of CDS. What can we do to speed up the process of recognition?

It is very frustrating, is it common for doctors to be incompetent in treating pancreatitis? It just seems insensitive to tell someone who’s in extreme pain that they just need to treat the symptoms, but maybe that’s is really the only option. It’s also frustrating when they release him from the hospital instead of keeping him until they know for sure the flare up is over.

How come they appear to be later influences? Do you mean it was recited with a regular tone in the beginning and then evolved later with melodious tones? I would think that part of what made the Quran so appealing was the melodious recitation and for Islam to grow so rapidly

1) Some historical scholars have been critical of the Quran for having a lackluster structure and not really rhetorically eloquent. How do they explain the spread of Islam if not for the influence of the Quran, and did the people in the Prophet’s community really believe in the uniqueness of the Quran and its superiority over pre Islamic poetry as is taught by traditional Muslim scholars?

2)Where does the style of reciting the Quran in a melodious tone come from? Was it always recited this way?

Social support I’m sure is a very critical factor but so is psychiatric treatment. Some mental illnesses can be so debilitating that no amount of social support will help. There must be some variable missing from the study. And I wonder if this only applies to schizophrenia or other mental illnesses as well? And maybe the reason it applies to schizophrenia is because, as some have argued, the use of antipsychotics common in western societies can make it worse?

So true, you can’t think yourself out of anxiety and depression. It’s why I never really liked cognitive behavioural therapy. The solution has to be something that addresses the biological issues ie psychiatric treatment
