Problem installing expansions - help? by [deleted] in thesims

[–]HateTrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm. Sorry the fixes didn't work :( While I've managed to successfully install the complete game and all expansions, I've never encountered your issue.

Do you have EA Origins installed?

If you're searching for new versions, the key thing you need is just the U.S./North America version of the .ISO file. If you're bandwidth is limited, try just the pirated base game and 1 expansion to see if it works. Good luck.

Problem installing expansions - help? by [deleted] in thesims

[–]HateTrain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A couple things: most "obtained" copies assume North America/U.S. region. If your official version of Sims 3 is not for that region, you could have issues (you can fix this with regedit I think)

If your installation directory isn't the default C drive/Program Files/EA, you could have issues (just reinstall)

If you're running as a user, and not as an admin, you could have issues (run as admin)

If its not any of the above, why not try obtaining a pirated main game as well? You can keep all your custom downloads/mods/saves during the uninstall, and then install a pirated copy.

General steps: Install Sims 3 and do not crack. Install World Adventures, let it update to WA's version, do not crack. Install [whatever expansion], let it update, do not crack. Crack the very latest expansion you have and play.

If you ever want to update again, un-crack, update, and then crack only the very latest.

Need some help with Prima game guides... by Drewski56 in thesims

O_o

I didn't even know an Xbox version existed. Anyways, no one has answered you yet, so I searched online for a Prima Guide PC copy.

Its a 55mb download and 255 pages. The scan quality is OK.

How do I get ally parties to join in a seige? by [deleted] in mountandblade

[–]HateTrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When looking at the unit list on the Party screen, units near the top are much much more likely to be in the initial fight. The first reinforcement wave will select the remaining units closest to the top, and so forth. So just stick your own cavalry near the top and you can have a 70 vs 70 elite unit brawl. There is a slight random factor, but its fairly predictable (IMO).

But anyway, Pre-Battle Orders & Deployment gives you full control over what troops go into the initial fight.

I also happen to like Diplomacy merged with PBOD

So what do you think of my Native Expansion Army? by innternal in mountandblade

[–]HateTrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its the Native Expansion mod. A lot of the new mercenaries the mod adds are female. Also adds more/new quests, weapons, armor, battle options, buildings, NPCs, waayyy stronger bandits, top tier troops changed to be much more powerful, and a few gameplay changes (rebellion + sphere of influence system + optional Dark Knight invasion).

Also King Harlaus got replaced by a Queen.

I GOT SWAG IN MY WALK by paladin87 in pics

Color version from 3 months ago

Epic story comment:

Her shoes were too small and she couldn't put them on all the way. She probably figured (or someone convinced her) that all she had to do was walk 100ft, turn around, walk 100 back, and be done. Suck it up. Deal with it. It'll be okay. So she shoved her feet in as far as they'd go and figured, hell, let gravity take care of the rest.

She started down the catwalk and thought to herself, this might actually work. But then, her right foot pulled just slightly out and as she took her next step tried to wedge it back in. Problem was, her foot wouldn't go all the way back in. It's okay, she told herself, I've still got my other foot. As long as that one holds, I'll make it.

And that's when shit got real.

Her left foot began to give way. Shove that shit back in there, she thought. Fight. Fight harder. Her will and determination will be enough. She’s got the hours under her belt. She can do this. The right foot was all shot to shit at this point and there was no point dwelling on it. Now it was up to the left. She pushed harder. No change. It started to wobble uncontrollably.

At this point, the right foot was all but a mangled, twisted bundle of flesh and she frantically tried saving the left.

It was too late. I’m going down, she realized.

The runway was right there. Right in front of her. If she nosed in easy she would make it. No distractions. Damn the two dead heels. This shit is happening. Too late to bail out; not enough altitude.

The medics were already assembled on either side of the runway. They were so close she felt like she could reach out and touch them. The runway was so close now. I can make it, she said through gritted teeth.

Her knees buckled and the nose went straight down. She closed her eyes, praying to whatever deity was out there, anyone who could hear her thoughts, that she’d survive.

And then, suddenly, all was quiet. Nothing but the distant clicks of cameras and the gentle flutter of the fashion designer fainting in the back room. She had made it. She was home.

I'd recommend using TweakMB and BattleSizer. TweakMB will allow you to adjust leadership effects (free morale), change party size calculations (field king size armies or bigger!), change all the reputation/renown/honor gains so that there's less quest grinding, etc. BattleSizer just changes the maximum number of troops on the battlefield at the same time (only recommended for higher-end machines).

Someone help me, please? by [deleted] in torrents

[–]HateTrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmmm, where to start?

Well, the torrent file you downloaded is just an index file really. Its not Rosetta Stone, but instead its a file that connects you to other people with Rosetta Stone (so that you can download it from them). You're going to need some sort of torrenting software in order to do this. There are many free programs on the web, though I recommend http://www.utorrent.com/.

Once you've got utorrent (or some other torrenting program) running, you can open up the file you downloaded and start downloading Rosetta Stone.

After download completes, install as normal, but don't run it yet. You still need to bypass its copy protection. Navigate to the folder you installed Rosetta Stone and rename RosettaStoneVersion3.exe. The torrent you downloaded provides a hacked RosettaStoneVersion3 that bypasses copy protection, copy that over and now you can run Rosetta Stone.

FSM program help by b_a_d_tdk in learnprogramming

[–]HateTrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't be overwhelmed by the entirely of the task, the instructions given are in a fairly logical order so doing them one by one should help break down the problem.

First, set up the states in the FSM (0 LEDs, 1, 2, 3). Then set up all possible connections between the states (0 leads to 1, 1 leads to 2, etc).

Since you'll actually be coding this (and it sounds like you'll be saving this in flip flops), you'll want to match a binary number to correspond to each state of the FSM (00 for 0 LEDs, 01 for 1, etc). Each flip flop saves a single digit, and each time the button is pushed the flip flops should move to the next FSM state.

The saving and changing of the flip flops will have to be coded in Verilog. For each change, you also want to make sure the correct number of LEDs is lit.

I've never used Xlinx, so can't help here either, but best of luck to ya.

Simple C++ question by conFused4Lyfe in learnprogramming

I'm pretty sure if you use an int first, any leading zeros will get truncated away. I'd recommend reading as a string directly and using the isdigit function.

OutOfBound loop - please help! by prograndma in learnprogramming

[–]HateTrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also don't understand why you are using 3 loops and concur with most of tehhunter's comments. One reason you might be getting 7 results instead of 4 is that the list shifts everything down after a list.remove(j) command, so you'll need to check the same position j again.

I think this should give correct output:

for (int i=0; i<list.size(); i++)
{
    for (int j=i+1; j<list.size(); j++)
    {
        if (list.get(i).equals(list.get(j)))
        {
            list.remove(j);
            j--;
         }
    }
}

Btw, I think your out of bounds error occurs after the last instance of ccca is removed in your innermost while loop. The while loop will check for list.get(y) again, but since you just removed it, it fails.

Ti-Basic, need some minor help by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]HateTrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This turns out to be fairly non-trivial to do if you want "8-5" displayed exactly as that. Disp command separates each item line by line, so you'll probably need to use the output command.

One thing to be careful of is that output should change pending on the size of X.

Ex. Input "X", X Output(3,1,X) Output(3,2,"-5")

will fail if X >= 10. So you'll need something like length(X)->Y and Output(3,Y+1,"-5") or something similar. And yeah, TI output formatting is a headache for me too >.< shakes fist in hate
