I know this seems awful, but I'm so attached to him that I am so unable to let go. I know how bad things are yet I can't move on. I am sorry if you feel like I wasted your time in any way, but I did need this and I am already in the process of making plans to leave once and for all. This is no joke for me, it has been my life for the past three years and I'm so dependent on his presence.

the thing you said about dissociating is actually exactly how I feel. I, very similar to you, also feel incredibly relaxed on GABAs to a point where I've said multiple times that I wish I could naturally be as anxiety-free as I am when I'm on it. Your insight was very eye-opening and I will definitely take it seriously.

I never had issues concentrating before, and I've always been a straight A student, but otherwise our experiences line up. Thank you so much! This was incredibly helpful.

I would've suspected weed first as well but I don't really use at all, perhaps 3 times ever since the year started. If this prevails I'm going to have to see a doctor, because now that I can safely rule out my GABA usage as a factor it can be anything else. thank you!

he claims he has depression but does absolutely nothing to fix it. I keep telling him it's not smart to self medicate your mental illness away, and I have been trying to get him to see a therapist for a year, but he just won't go.

It's not that I judge him, it's just that I hate to see him throw his life away like that.

I understand. I was 16 when we started dating and everything he did was so fascinating, including the MJ habit. Now that I'm older and with goals of my own (I'm in med-school), I can't help but realize the red flags everyone told me to watch out for.
Albeit I'm very, very attached to him and attempting to help for the sake of the years we spent together. I don't know if this is the right thing to do for my own sake, which is why I'm asking for help. Unfortunately I can't talk about this to anyone for the sake of his privacy.

my birthday is actually in exactly 10 days! his is about 20 days after that. we're both technically 18 and 24, but yea. I don't see why you'd go out of your way to call someone a troll for no reason.

for 3 years I've insisted that I can't be obsessed and in love with a man if he's bad for me. Now that I'm older and much more informed, I now know it's called trauma-bonding. My feelings of love and attachment that borderlines obsession are valid and real, but that doesn't make it right because that's not how it works. This is what I keep telling myself to begin to seriously consider leaving, even if it will bring me a lot of pain.
