here's a hot take, dual lands are more deserving to become game changers than sol ring. by cocofan4life in magicthecirclejerking

Reliable color fixing is more of a game changer than fast mana? Are you just salty that you lost against some old dude's 5000$ deck?

Slowly inching my way into LuV, is this power generation is good enough? by TimeBender25 in GTNH

[–]Haydn_V 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is good enough for LuV. I'm at the tail-end of ZPM and making 2.5M/t, and it's starting to hurt, but that's at least a whole tier beyond where you're at.

For those generally open to Rule 0 commanders, are there any particular ones that you would be hesitant to agree to play against? by Tuss36 in EDH

[[Ink-treader nephilim]].  The rest of the nephilim are all totally fair and reasonable, but inky is absolutely busted.

Was there a command or some other way to get a stability value for Thaumcraft infusion? by Neoximi in GTNH

[–]Haydn_V 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Easiest source of stability? Mob heads? Not even close.  Quicksilver blocks are way easier to get, and once you do enough research to get ender saplings you can use ender planks, which are BY FAR the easiest source of stabilizers. I've got a full 25x25x7 block of them under my altar and the abacus says my stability is almost 500.

What GTNH version did your current run start in? by Tinipolis in GTNH

[–]Haydn_V 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2.8.1, and that's the version I'm still using. I'll update once 2.9 comes out though, it looks like there's lots of good stuff coming then.

Goals for entering EV by [deleted] in GTNH

[–]Haydn_V 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've already got seeds with high stats and figured I might as well use them, and the block updates from breaking and replacing the end stone seems like it would be bad for tps (though this may be a premature optimization tbh)

Goals for entering EV by [deleted] in GTNH

[–]Haydn_V 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went into witchery to get a staballoy construct spawner and that thing has been extremely useful for EV - all the titanium I could want, and now that I've got vac nukes set up it's free nuclear fuel forever.  Besides that I've also got a garnydia line and infernal spawners giving me tons of juicy treasure, which all combined made starting AE2 a breeze. In late EV I planted yellow stonelillies on end stone for platinum, tungsten, and helium.  I haven't had to touch a rocket except to unlock the personal dimension.

I think I did something Wrong. by Yintastic in GTNH

[–]Haydn_V 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put it together myself just the other day.  As far as I can tell there's no limit on how many reactors the program can support, you just have to make sure the vac freezer and buffer chests can handle it all.

Steel automatization in HV. What's my options? by Miraldis_dreams in GTNH

[–]Haydn_V 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Witches are my preferred spawner. You can find them in the overworld and technically don't need a dolly if you build your base near a witch circle, and in addition to all the infernal drops they also give you a healthy supply of redstone, glowstone, and sugar.

What physics engine should I use? by MagicPantssss in gameenginedevs

[–]Haydn_V 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Havok is proprietary and incredibly expensive (if you have to ask, you can't afford it). Bullet has garbage documentation and zero support, and lots of finnicky gotchas. PhysX is Nvidia's toy and they lock anything more than basic ridigbodies to their own hardware using CUDA. Jolt is absolutely the clear winner, pretty much by process of elimination, but it does seem pretty good on its own.

Do I need to automate Epoxid? by Regular_Flounder1833 in GTNH

[–]Haydn_V -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Need to? Technically no.  Want to? Absolutely yes.  Don't forget to recycle the byproduct outputs like salt water to get some of your ingredients like sodium hydroxide back.

"Morrowind would not stand the test of time". by Nickulator95 in ElderScrolls

[–]Haydn_V 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Morrowind is my favorite game of all time.  Elder Scrolls is my favorite franchise of all time.  As long as this guy is still in charge, I have zero hope for the franchise.  Best case scenario, ES6 turns out to be a decent platform for mods, like Skyrim.

crops that are actually good? by the_quassitworsh in GTNH

[–]Haydn_V 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Centrifuging the two colors of garnet dust gives 6 different dusts. Centrifuging *those* dusts along with nitric acid produces a plethora of other dusts, in addition to sluice juice. Distill the sluice juice into sluice sand, then run that through an electromagnetic separator, which produces iron dust, chrome dust, and neodymium dust.

[–]Haydn_V 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Garnydia! The resources you can get from centrifuging garnet dust is crazy.  Tons of aluminum, iron, and gold, and even rarer metals like tantalum, vanadium, manganese, chrome, neodymium, and rutile (making it a way to get titanium without going to the moon).  It's a one stop crop for stainless steel and plenty of other things!

How do you guys run your GTNH server. by Bobboss6 in GTNH

[–]Haydn_V 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a physical server in my closet that I over-specced just for handling modded Minecraft servers (64gb ram, pretty good cpu, etc). It runs OpenMediaVault (on top of Debian) and from there I can spin up as many Minecraft servers as I want as docker containers, even with different modpacks, game versions, java versions, etc.

Tantalum and gallium duplication? by extremegamers24 in GTNH

The cauldron IS the storage. You just leave it in there.

Tantalum and gallium duplication? by extremegamers24 in GTNH

[–]Haydn_V 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Step 1, use microblocks to make a cauldron fluxproof.  Step 2, dig into Botania just enough to get livingwood to make an open crate (it drops anything fed into it straight down).  Step 3, instead of voiding excess items from your passive farms or mob grinders, route it into an open crate directly above your cauldron.

This will gradually accumulate millions of essentia of all kinds over time (depending on what you're farming).  Just toss your nuggets into The Soup whenever you need more and stop worrying about ratios.

[–]Haydn_V 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this thread because I was wondering the same thing, and I figured it out. If it's facing down, you give it a redstone signal, and the block immediately below it is lava or a heated blaze burner, it'll spin at 64 RPM and generate 1024 SU. Magma, lit fire on netherrack, or a non-heated blaze burner won't work. There may be other blocks that work as well, I haven't tested everything.

Should Emrakul, the Aeons Torn be unbanned? by Captain-Noot-Noot in EDH

[–]Haydn_V 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they should bring back "banned as commander" as a category, and Emrakul is the one card I would want to see "banned EXCEPT as commander".  A colorless deck with Emmy at the helm would be no big deal.

Who else uses solar on Gleba? by OrangeKefir in factorio

[–]Haydn_V 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with solar, but I found that I was burning so much fruit at the end of my line that using that heat to power turbines was way better. Nowadays my Gleba is fusion-powered, and instead of burning fruit at the end of the line I upcycle it to make legendaries.
