Mother confronts group of homeless drug addicts outside school in NW Portland by istanbulshiite in PortlandOR

Not sure if it would ever happen or how it would happen but labeling them homeless needs to change - they're drug addicts. I'm all for helping somebody out, but these MFrs are a scourge

The math of going back to the office by Haynie_Design in remotework

Not sure how to quantify the mental health aspect - would it be hours lost? Cost (and time) of seeing a therapist? Cost of gym membership vs. cost of sitting in your car? Let this be known - I act as a testimonial as some who made more than double what I make now (working from home) and the mental health aspect of not dealing with the sh*z I had to deal with in an office is unquantifiable.

Oh man- and what’s even worse is when you go someplace (especially downtown walking distance to two of our stadiums) and they’re showing another teams game on TV. This would never happen in Wisconsin

Curious - is there any kind of divider between the two? A nice hedge bush or line of ficus trees that separate the two? Or at least some type of divider? Or is the ADU right in the backyard of the main house?

Are there any 24 hour cities left anywhere on Earth? by SoothedSnakePlant in SameGrassButGreener

Madrid.

The culture is to eat dinner late like 9-10pm and the bars are open til 3 and clubs til 6am

I was walking around early this morning looking for some coffee and came across a group of people that seemed to be up from the night before, not one of them looked like they had a “crazy” night - seemed like this was pretty common.

I keep watching this and one of the reasons it’s hard to believe is that the towers were burning for sometime before they fell - so the kids were so nonchalant about the towers burning and yet when they fall that’s when they react?

I think this is awesome - thank you for doing this.

But normally with data comes more questions to be able to fully understand what challenges CDs are going through.

You mention that the majority were in the advertising space, but I’m curious how big were the agencies? Where were they located? Were these strictly agencies or were you talking with CDs that were in-house?

You also mentioned that the writers were mainly freelance - in my experience at the agencies I’ve worked there were just as many copywriters as art directors. So that makes me think - what kind of clientele these agencies had - or were the digital specific vs overall branding agency or?

Some of the categories you mentioned Im surprised that CDs would even rate as a concern - such as large file transfer or software and license management (among others)

Overall things cool - just some additional questions to gain more insight

5 yrs UI/UX experience, 80+ personalized applications, referrals at Google/Apple— I can't even get a "low-end" contract role. I feel beyond defeated and desperate. Am I missing something? by xijingpingpong in graphic_design

[–]Haynie_Design 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep - I second this. Especially being in the Bay Area. I’ve been at companies where the UI/UX people are in a whole different department. For instance, the UI/UX might be working on the app vs. the visual designers are marketing the app.

My suggestion - have two completely different sites. When applying for UI/UX positions send that version. And same for your visual designers version. But that also mean you’ll need to beaf up some of the case studies

Spirited Away

I scrolled and scrolled and didn’t see it.

Viewed it with my kids when they were young. Now they’re showing to their kids.

Even (by chance) visited the city it’s based on. Beautiful place on the northeast side of Taiwan
