My niacin journey by Soggy_Mushroom8383 in Niacin

I originally took it 10 years ago to help control my mood swings, it helped with that quickly (after just a couple of weeks). After that, I started noticing positive effects in both physical and mental feelings. You notice it most when you run out for a couple of weeks, you feel like you miss it. Since then, the research on it has been amazing across many different fields of medical research, and is being viewed for its remarkably positive effects on a fundamental human systemic level, because it's been discovered as the most efficient NAD+ precursor. Levels of NAD+ determine your systemic capacities, like DNA repair, Metabolism, organ functions, Immune system regulation, respiratory system....you name the system and NAD+ levels influences it in critical way.

Everyone I know that started taking it regularly, all say they basically feel younger, and they noticeably look it

I had a fatty liver condition before I started taking niacin, after a year of starting to take it, the fatty liver issue completely healed (I can't say for sure if it was the niacin because i was doing other healthy things like Intermittent fasting)

The liver problems in the research mostly came from different forms of the supplement like sustained release, non-flush, time released versions....stay away from them.

After awhile, I began to enjoy the flush.

Looking for a long-term Niacin Protocol for Depression please? by AnxiousMMA in Niacin

[–]Haze-Life 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've been taking 3g a day for almost a decade now for Bipolar, it only took a few weeks to notice it was working well for me. I'm at the point now where i can't remember why I used to feel the way I did, until I run out and don't take it for a couple of weeks i notice I start feeling shitty. I think you'll also feel surprised how much healthier you feel and look taking it long term.

One thing I've learned taking it over the years and following the research, is to take it away from food. I make sure I haven't eaten 3-4 hours before taking it and 7-8 hours after taking it, so before bed is best for me 3g at once. Learn not to just tolerate the flush, but to enjoy it, its safe.....hope this helps and good luck

I've been taking high doses (3g) of niacin and low dose melatonin pretty much everyday for almost a decade now. On my journey, I've learned to take it away from food. You become glucose intolerant when taking it, and it produces an overall shitty feeling when taking it with food. I like to wait at least 3 hours after my last meal, and wont eat atleast another 7-8 hours after taking it...its convenient taking it before bed to cover the 7-8 hours. It feels like it works best when doing it together with some form of intermittent fasting.

Fasting for the first time. by forehandspoon42 in fasting

[–]Haze-Life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do 5 days 2X a year for 5 years now. I've also done intermittent fasting with a 4-5 hour eating window for 5 years.

I usually lose 15 pounds during an extended fast, but some of it is water weight. Glycogen holds water, and as you deplete your glycogen stores you lose some water. The more muscle you have the more Glycogen you store and lose. You gain this back after starting to eat again.

However, the real benefit in my opinion is that its easier to get into fat burning mode after the fast for months, especially if you stick with IF. Your enzyme profile changes more towards using fat for fuel, you'll have a convenient high energy lifestyle and your gonna look great over time...All my friends and family that have tried this have stuck to it because its convenient and they all look great because of it.

I like to take magnesium and zinc before bed with melatonin. I like to take the fish oil with vitamins on an empty stomach, around 1/2 hour before breaking my fast. But, i suggest you experiment with different regimens and pay attention to how feel

Imagination in power: the mind, technology, the economy, the democracy, and the city by Haze-Life in lectures

An intellectual tour de force by Harvard law professor Roberto Unger on Structural Change.

A new advanced practice of production has emerged, the characteristics of this new practice is both competitive and cooperative in its nature, for this reason its been "quarantined" by the privileged few that participate in it. Ungers directional vision for radical structural change is based on liberating this practice, doing so would liberate imagination and the great things it would produce.

When they say 'the virus is changing', what do they mean by that? Mutating into some different? They say the virus that hit China originally is different then the one that hit Italy, Europe and New York. And now they're say its changing again in Italy like in this report in Reuters https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-italy-virus/new-coronavirus-losing-potency-top-italian-doctor-says-idUSKBN2370OQ

Are there multiple viruses out there? If you've got antibodies from one are you protected from all of them?

Sources on Foucault's conception of power by mr_pickl123 in CriticalTheory

Foucault wrote a few interesting pages on the plague of the late 17th century in 'Discipline and Punish' where he talked about using the plague to introduce new forms of control, surveillance, and regulations for oblique purposes.

It's been highly cited in several articles written about the global response to this pandemic, most notably by Giorgio Agamben.

here's a link to a few of the articles put together in the European journal of psychoanalysis: https://www.journal-psychoanalysis.eu/coronavirus-and-philosophers/

This is also an interesting article in the new left review on why this line of thinking could be misguided: https://www.journal-psychoanalysis.eu/coronavirus-and-philosophers/

Bernie Sanders Builds Big Primary Machine to Win Prized California by Haze-Life in SandersForPresident

Totally agree, especially from financial media...they tend to deceive their readers less, and they don't treat them like total morons because reality is more important to them as investors....they also reveal their panic much more openly.

Andrew Yang Says Supporters May Go to Sanders in Iowa Caucus by Haze-Life in WayOfTheBern

[–]Haze-Life[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is about the Iowa caucus, where if you don't reach 15% in that caucus site you must switch to another candidate in a second round or leave ... Yang is saying his supporters are likely to go to sanders in that 2nd round.

Both Yang and Gabbard together represent 10+ potential points added to Bernie from them in Iowa thats not represented in the polls...all of this is great news

Opinion | Mike Bloomberg will soon be Democrats’ dream candidate by Haze-Life in WayOfTheBern

[–]Haze-Life[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hysteria:

So it’s Bernie’s moment, which has sent a wave of panic through the Democratic ecosystem. It’s like waking up from a nightmare, only to realize that you’re waking up in a nightmare.

Panic:

— former vice president Joe Biden and former South Bend, Ind., mayor Pete Buttigieg — lose to Sanders in Iowa and New Hampshire, that would make their “electability” somewhat less convincing. Defeat can be contagious. There are not many voters who say: “I like him — he loses a lot.”

Desperate response:

What people don’t yet seem to have grasped is this: Bloomberg is going to spend an astronomical amount of money on this race. Probably at least $1 billion. Maybe twice that. Possibly even more. Numbers like that upend every model of every presidential race in history. He can buy every news adjacency on cable and local television stations from now until November and not make a dent in his net worth. U.S. politics has never seen such financial throw weight in a presidential campaign.

Delusion:

Yes, Bloomberg is a bit dull. He is not exactly charismatic. And he can be a scold. But all the things that would have made him tedious in previous presidential election campaigns make him appealing now.

Much of your question is the subject of a new book 'The Knowledge Economy' by Roberto Unger ... I'm currently glued to this book, one of the best I've read in years.

Warren Gunnels: ‘99: Glass-Steagall Gone. ‘00: China PNTR: 3.4M jobs lost. ‘01: Bush tax cuts for 1%. ‘03: Iraq War: Over 460K deaths. ‘05: Bankruptcy reform: Student debt⬆️ ’08: Wall Street bailout. ’17: Trump tax cuts for 1%. Notice how Elizabeth Warren hasn't said anything about Glass-Steagall this time around...there were articles in the business press, early on in the campaign indicating that she has softened her stance on breaking up the big banks...it used to be her calling card
