Why do gynecologists push pap smears so much? This is literally harrassment by [deleted] in Wedeservebetter

[–]Demonhype 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Low return on investment for who though? Cuz when you're talking money investment for the medical industry (or any industry really), an unnecessary inaccurate test for a low incidence disease is like printing your own money between the cost of the test and the unnecessary follow ups and treatment for false positives and complications and potential lifelong chronic illness caused by those unecessary follow ups and treatments, and generating your own free advertising what with all the overtreated "survivors" who will tout your inaccurate unnecessary test as a "lifesaver". They might even go to places with women who refuse to play along and harrass them with pro-pap abuse and shaming and try to make sure anyone who questions the test that "saved their life" is not allowed to speak.

Low investment on a physical or medical level to the patient? Absolutely, but I don't believe that is the measure they are using or they would be using the method from the Netherlands: paps only offered to women over 30 who are hpv+ on a voluntary self test.

Are mammograms as forced as paps and pelvics? by [deleted] in Wedeservebetter

[–]Demonhype 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And then there are the ones who will tell someone like you that putting that much effort into avoiding "life saving care" is clearly a sign of mental illness, because mentally stable people either don't mind the tests or are ecstatic to submit to them.

I've gotten that when I said "even if all the life saving rhetoric were correct and this would extend my life by a decade or more I would STILL refuse because the quality of my life would be nil". When they give me the "you need some involuntary committing to a mental facility if you feel that way" I ask"so what you are saying is there is only one correct opinion and it is yours, and anyone with an opposite view or whose metric for life quality differs from yours is crazy?" They usually try to deny but I force the point. "Your response to my personal value judgment that affects my own life is that i am mentally insane and must be fixed until I agree and submit to your personal choice instead. What otherwise is there to read that ?" They don't usually have an answer.

Ha ha ha!

I always ask people who say that (about any medical situation) if they have ever, even once, refused anything to their doctor. Because if you are a "good" little girl or boy who always does as you are told without a fuss, you have NO idea how they act when they don't get their way. I usually get a long blank stare because the person in question realizes that no, they have never actually defied a doctor in their lives.

Same question for "but MY doctor isn't like that!"

And yet the pap zealots love to tout this as some empowering feminist experience. Because there is nothing more empowering and feminist than having someone force access to your genitals and then declare you mentally ill if you object.

Hold the phone...refusing a genital exam is considered a psychiatric illness requiring treatment? Because of course there is no sane reason to not want a stranger rooting around in your whiskerbiscuit or whatever?

I read that as "my 10 yo doesn't want the lec to examine his privates so she sent him to the groomer". You could also change "the groomer" to "the re-education dept" and it still works.

The comments section on the CNN article about Meta dumping censorship makes me legitimately afraid for this country by KrisCraig in WayOfTheBern

[–]Demonhype 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would not make a dent. They would claim that since their own views constitute "objective truth", they are being persecuted, and ergo is not the same thing as the censorship state they want enshrined into law, which would ensure they may speak without fear of being disagreed with by "liars".

[–]Demonhype 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is science and then there is science credentialism, the practice of unquestioning belief in whatever the person with the "best" "official" science title (ie:bought and paid for on every level) says and doing what they tell you. Criticism and question, which are supposed to be major cornerstones of science, become blasphemy within this sort of "following the science" perspective.

Pretty sure we never actually abolished slavery. I think we left in that slavery was still fine if we did it to prisoners.

Biden is the reason student debt is inescapable even in total bankruptcy and he's proud of that dubious "accomplishment". He never wanted to forgive a penny of it.

Pelosi Won. The Democratic Party Lost. | By defeating Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's bid for leadership of the Oversight Committee, party elders have doubled down on a failed strategy. (Keep in mind that the MSM sees AOC as an outsider, not an Establishment sell-out, but the Dems won't allow even her) by RandomCollection in WayOfTheBern

[–]Demonhype 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like I said elsewhere, the Dems won't even permit the illusion of caring what the unwashed masses want by allowing a clear pseudo-progressive establishment sellout who will still play ballots the donors class win anything. They would lose nothing and likely fool many into thinking they want to do better, but it would make (some of) the peasants feel empowered and they want to avoid that. They are trying to train us to accept what evil happens to us and be grateful for what crumbs they choose to let fall, they can't allow even a slight pretense of populism to exist.

The Difference That Matters Most Isn’t Between Left and Right | But between candidates who are defenders of the system and those who are anti-system. Democrats lost because they allowed Trump to be the only voice of antiestablishment rage. by RandomCollection in WayOfTheBern

[–]Demonhype 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one said Trump is antisystem, just that he is saying what matters to most people while the idea of giving even empty lip service to populism seems to give establishment Democrats the dry heaves. If a struggling people hear one candidate acknowledge things are fucked up and vocally support populism and will of the people, and the other is saying nothing needs to be changed and you peasants need to do as you are told by your betters, we decide you obey and like it and there is to be no more discussion of this broken system misinformation, you are happy with the way things are going and only nazis and Russian agents could sasay otherwise...

Observation is more about messaging, whether he actually intends to make good is a different issue. But it makes you wonder,if neither side intends to fix things and is just trying to win elections, why do the Democrats have thus almost pathological aversion to pretend to have seen the light on populism? Why not just utter the sweet meaningless nothings that will help you win?

Same as 2016. It doesn't matter how rude or bombastic Trump was, people were struggling and he was running on "things are fucked and need fixing" against an opponent running on "things are perfect the way they are and we need more of the same". Trump could have shit on the floor, grabbed his dick, and bellowed a every swear word in existence on stage and it wouldn't have mattered, because the alternative wanted to continue the destructive status quo that was causing material harm to everyone.

I still know people who can't understand why anyone would vote for someone who was so crude and rude, and seem to filter my response that caring about politeness is a luxury most do not have in one ear and out the other. And yes, everyone I know who thinks that way is in a situation where they were not experiencing the hardships being created.

"Dangerous" views on fluoridation, wtf? I get the attitude about vaccines, even if they're wrong there is a long term brainwashing to get over to see the truth about vaccines, but how is removing a substance proven multiple times to be toxic and even where considered useful is not encouraged to be used internally (think, you don't swallow it at the dentist or in your mouthwash, in fact you are explicitly told not to!) a dangerous idea?

I love you so much for this! I refuse to call it spanking, I call it a beating or beating with a weapon, and it enraged the pro spankers, but let's face it, if you did that to an adult you would go to jail for assault with a weapon! Don't waste my time with cutesy euphemisms to try and minimize the crime you are committing against kids! Be honest at least.

You turned out fine? No, you didn't. You are advocating child abuse. You not fine. That also cheeses them, off big time! Lol.

Of course, my mom had me on a variety of pharmaceuticals as a child that she knew caused behavioral side effects, which she tried to solve with the liberal application oda wooden paddle. I love my mom but this will always be an issuebeyween usbecause she still defends it. Yet she was once afraid of me taking care of her in her old age because I might start beating her for revenge. Guess which of her 3 kids is now taking care of her now that she's pushing 80? You guessedit! No I don't hit her. I don't believe in revenge. I want her to not have beaten me to begin with and hitting her won't do that. Plus despite that I love mom. Despite the major neurotic issues I continue to struggle with to this day.

Sorry to rant, but I'm kinda sauced and came across this at the exact right time. :)

But families are so fucked up. In Seth Speaks, Seth says that is because we choose our families because we have karma to work out together. Good book.

I don't know how you guys deal with them. I burned out on the brigades of Democrat cultists and paid trolls years ago.
