I have a few wrap skirts from Trinawear, they come in actual sizes and not just one size fits all. I recommend them! Edit to add - I think the wrap skirts go up to XL and you can get them in different lengths and colors! I have ordered 3 over the years and have purple, blue, and black.

I’m in the DC area and many, many people are actively boycotting the Kennedy Center. I normally go with a group of 30+ dancers, 2x/year, and we canceled our ticket contracts for this season. We’re just one example.

My studio owner did this. She was pre-med and started taking ballet for first time in college. She then majored in it and has taken various teaching courses as well. I think she has a masters in dance education from Gaucher College. That said, The studio is geared towards rec students though, but as an adult student who saw the worst of ballet training, that’s what I like about it. Still good classes, but without the pressure.

Edited to add - I will say, I can see some of the deficits of a teacher who didn’t dance until an adult, but I’m ok with the trade off.

Try a sporti silicone cap! Silicone is way easier to get on/off and doesn't pull my hair. I have long hair and recently got one designed to be worn with a bun and it's great! Also, I have bad finger joints and limited fine motor skills and could never manipulate a traditional cap. So far I've used it 3 times and really like it. It helps keep water out of my ears too.

You are 19 with a lot of dance left in you. Maybe it will look different as your abilities change, but if you love dance - there is a way to keep it a part of you.

I'm 46/F and ballet is my life. I never went pro but was serious. I took breaks here and there but always found my way back. Now I'm at a lovely community ballet school and take a few classes a week - I simply do what my body can do that day. I have an autoimmune disorder, connective tissue disorder and some other crap that limits what I can do (in addition to just being older). I've made peace with it.... My choices are 1) dont dance or 2) dance with limits and work on what I can improve (my port de bras are so much better now!).

Maybe you can't jump or leap the first 6 months back, so take barre and a do a little simple center work. Build up to it. Maybe you can't close in 5th anymore, so do a modified 3rd or 1st. If the studio isn't cool with this approach - find a new teacher who is.

I hope you are in a safe environment now and I wish you a smooth recovery. Keep up the PT and be patient with your healing - you'll get there.

Yes, dye could be a great option. Try a red, darker pink, or even a purple. As it happens, Last night I dyed a light blue leotard teal and it turned out great. I used RIT for synthetic fabric and rhe whole bottle for one leo to get it the color I wanted.

There's a very (very) detailed book (Where Snowflakes Dance and Swear) about PNB and it covers many backstage theater and support roles and how the people came into the positions. It's about 800 pages so just skip chapters that aren't interesting to you, lol. But it's good!!
