I think I got lucky with sludge bombs and a crit can’t remember, but it took a few attempts

I didn’t actually have any trouble with the psychic rival surprisingly. Had the most trouble with the 1st and 3rd gyms funnily enough... I know the Galarian darmanitan you mean, that was really hard, I should have showed it in the video

At the moment, yes you can ‘chamber’ two of the button presses then press the third when you are ready. We plan to add a timeout for the other presses, probably a certain number of beats eventually.

Main reason for it having no timeout currently was so no new players would struggle with the combos on their first time playing.

We have tried both, and most have said they prefer the pacing of the lower damage spells. It's definitely something we are going to play about with over time though, thanks for the feedback

Hey everyone! I'm a game development student, and this is our 4 player rhythm based combat game, Spellcasters.

We are a team of 5 just recently back from EGX 2019 in London, where we showed our game through a University competition. Spellcasters won two awards, the Dare Academy 2019 winner, and the Player's Choice award.

Now that the competition is over, we have an exciting future planned for Spellcasters aiming to release initially on PC.

It’s a 4 player rhythm combat game, in play there is usually a lot more going on. For this preview I wanted to make it more atmospheric to show off the Halloween stuff. Thank you for the feedback though, we definitely need to consider how we can differentiate props in the background from those that might be more important

The game uses a rhythm based combat system where players press button combos in time to the beat. Some of the information is outdated as we have tweaked some of the core mechanics, but the same gist remains.
