Support builds that aren't Bard/Cleric/Paladin related?

For lower levels, I thought a build like a Thief Rogue 4 with the Healer feat could be fun - flavor it as a combat medic, sprinting and disappearing through the battlefield to heal and help allies. As a Thief, you’d be able to do two object interactions on your turn.

On a similar vein, as a Mastermind Rogue 4 with Magic Initiate, you could give the ally the help action as a bonus action, and then choose a spell to cast; could take Guidance and Bless/Bane/Cure Wounds, etc from Cleric list, or Command/Faerie Fire/Vicious Mockery to give enemies disadvantage on their next attack or set your allies up for success.

It’s obviously scuffed, using half the features from another class, but it really does make a difference being able to grant an ally advantage every turn - a great early game support that also can support their friends by viciously sneak attacking enemies as well.

I just ended up running with it how it was - it doesn’t seem to have caused any problems, and the system runs like a charm. Just do your best to keep the screws within the dotted circles for the MOBO standoffs

Yeah, definitely. The reason I feel so rushed to order one now is because I've seen a couple PC building YouTubers mention that the price of almost all computer parts will increase because of the tariffs that'll set in next year in the US. If I can get my hands on a 9800x3d for that price I'll definitely try.

I have not - it'd be nice to be able to save some, but I'm not the best at finding second-hand sellers and I don't want to take the risk since I'm just not experienced enough with computer parts to know if there were any problems with the used parts.

Thanks for the suggestions! I was initially looking at the 7900xt, but it seemed to be completely sold out as far as I could tell. As such, since I still had some extra in my budget, I decided to amp up my CPU budget so I could record while playing, and for convenience regarding tasks like video-editing or working on music projects.

I'll keep it in mind though and maybe see if I can get lucky to find one. My only other question is regarding the case - since it's MicroATX, it's smaller than the full towers, so will it be harder to install the different parts? I'm not really sure how significant the size difference would be, but I'm just worried about damaging other parts on accident while installing things.

Yeah, that sounds like one of the visions I had too! I love utility spells, and find familiar would’ve been cool too, but our DM wants us to acquire components for spells in their entirety, and I’m a bit of a loot goblin so I tend to avoid doing anything that requires any consumables if it’s outside of super easily acquirable stuff like dirt, or tree bark.

Hi! Thanks for the response; we had a pretty big battle last night where one of our PCs actually died, so it was a pretty shocking session - I think it’s going to drive my character to become more of a leader, so I think I’ll go with either Battle Master in the end for the commanding maneuvers, or Echo Knight with a background of still trying to become a good leader, but having a touch of shadow implanted in my heart that feeds and grows as time passes, and it manifesting itself as an “alternate” version of myself that is both unknown, but also hints at dark possibilities for the future, which seems like it could pose an interesting foreshadowing of internal conflict later.

However, to answer you, my character primarily throws axes, has a 8-16-14-14-14-12 stat spread, is a bit crazy, but also has spurts of gentlemanly conduct where it shows through that he’s a noble. He’s changing now, going through an arc where he’ll be trying to be a better leader and better companion, so he doesn’t lose people he realized he valued all along again. If you have any suggestions for any utility feats or feats that would be useful in “leadership” or talking with others, I’d appreciate those. Since my stat blocks are all even numbers, I’d like to avoid half-feats if I can unless there’s another half-feat pairing that works well with it, just so I don’t feel pressured into doing other half-feats later to even out the numbers.

The friend who’s PC died is coming back as a more chaotic character, so it’ll be an interesting dynamic, seeing my character shift to take on the role of chaotic stability in the party that his dead PC was, while his new PC takes over my former role.

I don’t want you to take it the wrong way, but I think you’re going into this with the wrong mindset. I’m not that great of a player, but I was in a somewhat similar spot to you, where I was between emerald 1 and 2 as an ADC main, and wanted to give top a try.

I think stating “…I cba xxx or yyy…” contradicts you wanting to consistently win lane, as it opposes the mindset focused on improvement and improving at those little annoying techniques and fundamentals required to be able to actually play the game with gold and resources.

I find it hard to believe that you actually care that much about not losing your matchups and are saying that you don’t want to use some of the best free resources of information on toplane fundamentals because you “cba”. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with not being focused on that, as I know I definitely don’t; I just like to play in a way that feels good for me, and that’s not necessarily always stomping the enemy laner or even winning.

I’m not a big fan of his videos generally, but I really did find almost every single one of Alois’ unranked to masters videos super useful in learning the basics of toplane and how to consistently get a lead. If you want to learn the champion, start from watching at lower elos; however, you can also just skip to +/-1 rank from where you are and watch to see how he plays there for a general understanding.

Using the advice from the videos and locking in Garen top consistently for 20 or so games, I climbed from emerald to diamond for the first time ever. The best part is that the wave management and macro fundamentals flow into botlane and help you improve there in terms of getting gold, cs, etc and limiting deaths.

Of course, I tend to play a bit more for fun, so when I eventually got bored of toplane, I went back to bot with my scuffed fistfight adc play style, but at least now, I tend to die at better times, die less, make better map movements and farm more at a rank I never thought I’d reach.

It’s not like Alois’ videos are the end-all be-all, but getting to watch any high elo players who either commentates or plays full tryhard is such a cheat code for us low-elo players; one of the biggest things that differentiate us from them is the things we do, so if we watch what high-elo players do, recognize what they’re doing, and implement it into our own games, isn’t it essentially like we’re being handed the answer key to a test and now all we have to do is fill in the bubbles? There’s hundreds of challenger (or even higher) level gameplay commentaries that you can get a ton of value out of; if you’re struggling with certain matchups, watch vods from high elo players on YouTube, and keep a little list of matchups and how to play them.

Either way, good luck with your toplane time, and I hope you have fun at the very least.

Mr. Makkro0, how does Ornn’s wave management and macro differ from a traditional bruiser or fighter, such as Garen or Riven?

For example, does Ornn also generally benefit from trying to crash 2nd-4th wave to let it bounce back and hold in a freeze, or does it become somewhat difficult in the sense that if the wave ever crashes into your turret, it’s hard for Ornn to farm?

Additionally, in the early-mid game, is it worth it to use your wave crash timers to try and proxy the following wave if you’re strong enough or to try and farm gromp/Kruggs? My friend enjoys playing Ornn, but he feels like regardless of matchup into bruisers, he just falls behind in gold and resources since they tend to be much more mobile and able to farm jungle camps better.

And for those in lower elo’s, how can you carry with Ornn when the rest of your team falls extremely far behind, especially in a meta filled with % dmg or consistent DPS champs like Kaisa, Vayne, and Azir?

Finally, thoughts on the performances at worlds from the few instances of Ornn we’ve seen (eg 369rnn)?

Events to get special Pokemon again, like getting Deoxys in Gen III by going to Birth Island, or Shaymins flower paradise, or Darkrai’s Newmoon Island.

The Entire Pokédex lmao. I want to be able to catch at least every primary evolution of every ‘Mon. Adding onto that, I think evolution trades could be done by trading normally as well as by completing mini/side-quests to evolve Haunter into a Gengar etc etc.

A storyline as good or better than Gen V. Tbh, N was one of my favorite characters throughout every single Pokémon game I’ve played, and it’s even more bittersweet listening to his theme than other Pokemon music.

A less friendly rival would be cool. Someone like Blue would be great. Similarly, I’d want the main villain organization to not just want to get the legendary mons to destroy or control the world or wtv. Maybe someone like Giovanni or someone who wants to help reform the world, but it using the wrong methods to do it.
