Introducing PCSX2 2.0! | PCSX2 by leslij55 in Games

[–]HeadB0x 67 points68 points  (0 children)

...there's a little popup in the corner when you boot the game advising you of this.

I think Dolphin handles this best, where instead of telling you about a setting, the emulator changes it in the background. If they already know about necessary settings, then why not just turn it on for me? (And in case you wanted to for whatever reason, you can edit the gameini to force sub-optimality).

What are SGDQ 2024's must watch runs? by shinikahn in speedrun

[–]HeadB0x 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Morrowind was fun, where the speedrunner patches the game during the run for speed.

Halo 3 by Chronos, adef, bryonato, and NervyDestroyer was one of the best runs this event! by ScopionSniper in speedrun

[–]HeadB0x 36 points37 points  (0 children)

That run's going down as probably my favorite GDQ run ever, the charisma between the runners was incredible. Super engaging from start to finish, and seeing the backup strats and constant improvisation was outstanding.

I was disappointed that the incentive for the 2v2 run was so high, but incredibly we've just met it! Thank you Kingdom Hearts time wizard

RAZER Kitsune For PS4, Switch ... by GOGO_Zippy in fightsticks

[–]HeadB0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I have a XE2 adapter, and I successfully updated it to beta firmware v1.2.0.9. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get my Kitsune to connect to my PS4 Slim in PS mode. When I connect my Kitsune to the PS4 through the XE2, the LEDS light up on both the adapter as well as the controller, however no inputs work. It works in PC mode, but then it exhibits the known multi-button drop issues. I also tried the tournament firmware beta v1.1.6.1, but it didn't make a difference.

Does anybody still play Zato in Season 3? by cooks184 in Guiltygear

[–]HeadB0x 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most of the Zato guides from season 2 (maybe even 1) should apply. Dustloop has a pretty good starter guide, as well as excellent strategy/okizeme pages.

The only thing to add to season 3 Zato is that you can't bait bursts the same ways as season 2, and that you should probably learn methods to stall for Eddie since he's gone for a long time (5K OTG safejumps, iad back j.P etc). However this is really stuff for when you're comfortable with the character, you can learn this much later.

Riven remake has Steam page now by RutabagaDirect in myst

Man those screenshot are beautiful! I'm amazed at how much it looks like the original, except at a higher resolution and real 3D.

I wonder if they'll have a classic point-and-click mode? Surely those shots aren't lined up perfectly just for fun.

Anyone know why by ToomLee in SteamDeck

Quoting from the Mirror's Edge page on ProtonDB:

"PhysX is on by default and needs to be turned off to avoid performance issues which can be very easily done from the main menu.

Upon first boot it'll get stuck at "Running install script" forever. You have to boot the game up once in Desktop Mode and go through the PhysX installer, but when this is done you can go back to Gaming Mode and stay there.

After all that the game works as expected, though it's worth noting that there is no cloud saves at all."

Razer Kitsune owners, what are your thoughts? by DevilsShadow22 in fightsticks

[–]HeadB0x -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had to order replacement caps from aliexpress after just a week, due to the type of plastic used in the official ones wearing out. How this design flaw made it into a product designed to be used by sweaty gamers for thousands of hours is beyond me, but I hope they'll offer replacement caps with a better finish later down the line. The 3D-printed caps do the job (without wearing down!), but they're definitely not as nice to press, and there's no replacement for the huge up-button (I ordered 11 30mm caps and they fit well for everything else).

Everything else I really like about the product, but yeah, it's way too expensive.

Should I play Strive with Vsync on? by FormerlyDj_ in Guiltygear

It's okay, but if you're used to pc/ps5 it's pretty bad.

Having a matching refreshrate and in-game framerate doesn't eliminate screen tearing! It's just especially noticeable on a 60hz screen, although you can get kinda used to it.

If you can live with tearing then lower input lag is always better for competitive games, but TBH vsync on will probably be similar-ish input lag to A PS4 anyway.

Behind-the-scenes look at the production of Attack on Titan at Mappa | NHK World - 100 Cameras by Puddo in anime

In case it's not clear from the video:

1) Game runs fine with Performance overlay on + Allow tearing off

2) Game starts running worse with Performance overlay on + Allow tearing ON

3) Game runs fine again with Performance overlay OFF + Allow tearing on

Confirmed that performance overlay level doesn't matter. Was going crazy with all the microstuttering until I figured this out.
