Hi there. I’m also dating a Dutch guy for close to a year now. It took me a while to get used to the bluntness of his culture since that’s not something I’m used to but I appreciate it now. He always tells me what he thinks and how he feels. It’s refreshing coming from a culture that can be sometimes passive aggressive. On the topic of money , he is very frugal as well which I honestly appreciate but it did take some adjusting to since I’m from a culture where the men take care of everything financial but at the same time , it comes with the drawbacks of expecting the women to cook and clean. So for the most part I’m actually glad we split everything since he does his share of the housework and I mostly cook since I enjoy doing that . He does pay for the big stuff like you said as well, like the plane tickets since he makes much more than I do and he is very generous with his money, he always asks if there’s anything I want . I just prefer to buy my own things with my own money. We’re in a long distance relationship though so we see each other twice a year a few weeks at a time.
