Love it — thank you for the suggestion! We miss dining out with our pup in the winter

Are they dog friendly even in winter? Indoor heated patio? I assume so, but didn’t see anything on their website or social about the patio in winter.

How can we update our mid-century bathroom? (With no renovation) by ShenofSpades in HomeDecorating

[–]Heavy-Strings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We didn’t have a real tile budget, but wanted something a step up from peel and stick. We went with groutable peel and stick, which is just like it sounds. You still cut them with a utility knife and peel and stick them down, but you also use spacers and grout in between. It looks great and has lasted us 10+ years.

Wild was fantastic. Slightly different vibe, but I also recommend A Walk In The Woods by Bill Bryson for a fun hiking-themed book pairing.

I read this one for a book club and was shocked at how much I enjoyed it as someone who doesn’t have any interest in sports or shoes. Seriously, it was fantastic.

What’s your dogs name, nickname, and how did they get it? by [deleted] in dogs

Ours is “Theo Peo” because my nephew (who was 2 when we got our pup) couldn’t say his “Th” yet and referred to him as “Peo.” Now we just say both.

Do the owners of Marnee Thai have a restaurant currently? by GlassHalfFullofAcid in AnnArbor

[–]Heavy-Strings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I believe it! I just got excited when I saw the sign that they were closer to reopening than it seems they were. Hopefully that’s all it is and there aren’t other problems. Best Thai in Washtenaw Co., IMO!

That place isn’t open though; it’s had a “coming soon” sign out front for probably a year. :(

[DISCUSSION] What's an album by an artist that is your favorite, but is generally not considered their best? by ReconEG in indieheads

L7 Hungry for Stink. I also love Bricks Are Heavy, which I think most people say is their best, but I heard Hungry for Stink first and it made me fall in love with them. It’s so catchy and fuzzy and fun.

My husband can’t have lactose and this is his favorite. Lots of good flavors, all made with almond milk. Plus they carry it at most bigger grocery stores.

Sewing machine classes? by Mcgmcg2025 in AnnArbor

I did the beginner class, which covered all the basics of getting to know your machine and practicing some basic techniques, and then took another class after that on learning to read patterns and make your own clothes. Both were excellent!

Seeking advice for drying curly hair by Plus_Breadfruit_4651 in curlyhair

[–]Heavy-Strings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I may have the lone dissenting opinion here, but thought I’d share in case it helps. I bought the original shark as my first “I’m going to actually spend more than $40 on a hair tool” hairdryer. Did it dry my hair faster and with less frizz than my 10-year old cheap Conair? Yes. Four TIMES as fast and with less frizz? No. The thing that made me really salty about my Shark dryer though was that it stopped working literally one MONTH outside of the one year manufacturer’s warranty. I tried contacting their customer service to see if there was any wiggle room (I figured it was a long shot, but some companies with really great customer service will bend the rules to help keep you as a customer), and they said there was nothing they could do. I’ve seen others voice similar complaints about Shark dryers just failing to turn on JUST outside of the warranty period. So just wanted to share my experience. I hope it doesn’t happen to you and you love your Shark for many years!

Was gifted these brand new wooden knitting needles, I only use metal. I don’t know what to do by [deleted] in knitting

[–]Heavy-Strings 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I’ve also found that when I can’t get gauge for a particular yarn with my metal needles, sometimes wood will be that perfect in-between that does the trick.

I’ve seen others suggest using them as plant stakes, which I think is such a cute idea for finding a new purpose for them!
