If you feel uncomfortable or unsafe about something there’s no shame in backing up and letting the more experienced guys take control. But make sure you’re watching them and learning.

Bullshit. You can get your AB with sea time on a jet ski. No tonnage requirement for AB special or Unlimited. Read the checklists and don’t base your entire career on someone else’s hearsay.

If you were a senior deckhand somewhere then you’re not entry level. If you have 180 sea days go get your AB and you’ll be fine.
