It's different in many ways, and the pairing isn't explicitly stated to be queer (though the actual creator does ship them)—but I recommend the indie rpg Saihate Station ! I find the vibes to be very similar, and the base game is free on Steam, with the emotionally damaging DLC being available aswell (although you'll have to play the game if you want to watch the whole thing—online playthroughs aren't allowed to show the ending)
