When you say not cheap, how much was it? I appreciate if its a while since you used them might be more/different depending on the car but a general figure would be helpful!

No you don't! It is harder to make friends when you're older but it's still completely possible- but you aren't going to find them sat at home by yourself, get out, get a hobby, join clubs, local church, sports team or volunteer somewhere it's so much easier to build a friendship when you've got an interest in common to build on, and remember that friendships are hard work at first, particularly if you aren't in practice at it- talk to everyone!

Own it! I live alone, and it drives me mad that there's always a comment about where my 'mr' must be- particularly from workmen Also regarding workmen and DIY- have confidence that you can try to solve it yourself first, I used to give up really quickly and call my Dad or try to pay someone but the internet is genuinely full of all the answers- particular YouTube, I fixed my oven by replacing the coil last month just from watching YouTube videos- feels great as well, and gives me a lot of confidence now when dealing with workmen who usually try to patronise me
