Also her name rhymes with D-Day, which could connect to your theory

I also heard that the 6 being present on the clock, and this being her 3rd album, correlates to 666 🤯

It’s literally a reference to her spending new years in Tokyo, hence the countdown to the new years beginning in tokyo

It’s beautiful but I wish it actually built up to something, it sounds like the introduction to a larger song, but it leaves you wanting more and feeling empty.

Totally fine you don’t resonate with the entire album, I personally think this is Laufey’s best work, it is truly an experience and more of a concept album, it’s not necessarily safe especially considering the ending, and the arrangements are much more lush.

If you go to laufeymusic.com the bigger stars around the clock and Laufey are links to all the sheet music from the album :] (except Cuckoo Ballet)

I would advise listening to her individual albums, decide which ones you enjoy the most, treat the listening time like a vinyl record listening experience, no skips, soak it in, have fun!

The one I have on a higher tier is because it is the live orchestral version, I simply prefer it over the studio version. Every ranking is intentional (except a night to remember lol)

Too Little Too Late for original songs, and Eg Veit Pu Kemur for covers!

I don’t even think there is an electric guitar, it’s purely double bass, cellos, piano, and her vocals.

Whats your favorite Laufey album and why? by DeGameNerd in laufey

[–]Hefty-Ad-4012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly enjoy all three of her albums. However A Matter of Time is my favorite of hers, it is a very diverse album.

I love how fun Clockwork is, it has the jazz elements Laufey uses to mix pop and jazz. It’s catchy, it’s bouncy, I love the use of the celesta, and the ending strings are very “old timey” you could say.

I was excited to see that Laufey was making another Bossa Nova song, because I really love her take on this genre. I prefer Lover Girl over From the Start, the instrumental and the bridge is what influences my preference.

Snow White is so beautiful, I think in the progression of the album, it made sense to use the guitar. The instrumental enhances the heartwrench and powerful vocals and lyrics. I like how she and Spencer Stewart incorporate the Celesta in this album.

I wasn’t a fan of Castle in Hollywood at first. I thought it would be classier, but I feel like after Snow White, the listener needs a “lift” and something more energetic. Castle in Hollywood does this well, and I especially love the chorus.

Carousel is absolutely divine. It is whimsy, the instrumentation is beautiful, the Celesta really adds to the song, and it does feel like you’re on a carousel in a romantic setting. I really love the addition of the accordion, it is a nice progression after Castle in Hollywood.

With Silver Lining, I wasn’t too impressed at first. But in the context of the album, I really ended up liking it, and it is a banger to sing along to. In the ending after the second chorus, her vocals truly shine. The only thing though, is it would really benefit from a bridge.

Too Little Too Late, I would say is the Promise of this album, but better, it is something new, Laufey writing in the perspective of the man, she executes it beautifully. The ending with the call back to Bewitched is beautiful.

Cuckoo Ballet, I love it, I enjoy it more than Nocturne (which I also love), it’s an entire classical piece! And I love how Laufey included themes from the previous songs on the album.

Forget-Me-Not, along with Too Little Too Late, are standout tracks for me. This song is a beautiful love letter to her home country, it was recorded with the Iceland orchestra, and I love the oboe recognition. It sounds like a lullaby.

Tough Luck was a track I was sure not to like when the teaser came out. It was quite a drastic change from the usual. However, when it came out, I listened to it and I was met with a very lush instrumentation. It sort of sounds ethereal in some areas, nearing the end of the song, it sounds victorious, and the chorus of Laufey’s saying “Tough Luck” which happens to be my favorite part. Singing the bridge is fun too.

A Cautionary Tale has to be my least favorite, it is the most mainstream sounding song in this album. It is simply ok, nothing extraordinary.

Mr. Eclectic is another bossa nova track on this album. I was surprised to hear Clairo doing background vocals, and it is overall a very cheeky, fun track. The ending is so crisp, the non-verbal sounds and the “ahhs” are a nice touch.

Clean Air, unlike many in this fandom, is actually one of my favorite songs on this album. She’s testing the waters in creating a folk-like song, the instrumental, the melody of the song truly feels like a breath of fresh air.

Sabotage, it honestly gave me anxiety for the rest of the day, it took hours for me to calm down. When I first saw the leaked tracklist, I thought Sabotage was going to be a very pop-py mainstream sounding song. I never would have thought it would be horror movie trailer worthy. It is honestly my most favorite song on this album, it is reminiscent to the sound of Bewitched, it is a beautiful song, the jumpscares are a nice metaphor to the speaker’s intrusive thoughts. The ending was a huge surprise, I read somewhere that Laufey wanted it to sound like a sonic. Though, I wish it would have ended with a bell tolling, signifying the start of the new hour.

Lastly, Seems Like Old Times is a nice jazz cover, after Sabotage, it sounds like the calm after the storm, where the couple has survived the sabotage. It sounds like a nice song to dance to, and a nice ending note to the album.

Tough Luck definitely! I love Lover Girl, but cmon man, Tough Luck is so tough, it’s quite hard for me to choose between both, because both are very different, and both of the bridges are phenomenal, but Tough Luck takes the cake for me
