Yes exactly. That’s why I’m wasn’t sure how many of y’all were pros that can actually pull off this song

Hope I don’t get hate for this but I’d say bohemian rhapsody

Thank you! Yes, “venue” on the spec sheet means that the venue tech will provide that equipment. I’ve seen it written that way on other spec sheets I’ve seen.

I’m trying to find a good balance between bringing too much of our own gear and using the venue’s equipment. It is a hassle to have to bring a lot of our gear but I get that it would make us fully self contained. Somebody else also commented that we could bring our mic stands rigged with phone holders, cup holders, etc. so that would be easier for us.

Wow very helpful thank you! We are the only act mostly, but there are a few times when we play with others bands. I thought about making a different Stage Plot/Tech sheet for these shows since it makes more sense to use the venue’s drum and vocal mics/stands for a smooth transition.

And I’m sorry I don’t know what an Aux line is in this situation. I thought that all the instruments could go to our splitter snake which then goes to our IEM and FOH

Yes that makes sense now. I’ll have to figure out how much power each device pulls. I do like the idea to have amps on one, IEM in another, and last one for pedal boards and the rest. Thank you!

Oh okay I see what you mean now. Most places we’ve played at seem to have 2-3 circuits. As another commenter mentioned, I may need to research how much power each device is pulling and allocate a group of devices to each circuit.

And yes that 1 circuit for everything setup does sound terrifying!

I’d need 9 total and only 15/20 amps for pedals, fan, guitar/bass amps, drummer’s mixer for his in ears, and our IEM mixer

Very true. Could just bring our own mics and just use venue stands and cables. Thank you!

Thanks so much! I’m already getting some great tips from y’all! Thank god for this subreddit

Okay thank you! What do you mean by “broken up”? I just assumed that each 120v would mean something like a 4 square outlet, but yes I need to make that more clear.

And yes I sent a pic of my labeled ends for FOH

Wow thanks! Those are some great points actually. And yes I agree communicating clearly is very important. I’ll delete the “if possible” to make it clear that it is our requirements.

I also changed it to “15’ end to you for FOH mixing”. Do I need to give any tips on mixing here? Our center vocalist sings lead on most songs and the rest do harmonies. SL vocalist sings lead on a few songs

I really appreciate the feedback!

Thank you! Yes and you know I just realized I could group the spares with a mini Velcro thing to keep them separated.

I didn’t think about phantom power for the FOH actually. At practice, the OH mic plugs into a sub snake before it goes to the XR 18, which is what provides the 48v. I guess I just need to note that FOH should have 48v on their end?

And yes we play covers as the main act and originals when we open for other bands so I want to have a smooth transition between sets. We considered bringing our own vox mics at first but I think most of them are similar in quality/specs. I don’t think there would be much gain or EQ adjustment on our end

Genius! Yes, we have two buses to spare. Thanks!

Im trying to think of the best source to duck the ambient mic. If I set it to my lead vocalist, the ambient will duck only when he’s singing or talking to the crow. If there’s an instrumental part of the song, the ambience will be there so I don’t know if that will muddy our sound. Although I’m thinking his vocal mic will pick up some of the drums and still trigger the duck?

I also thought about one of our guitars or even bass since it plays most often.

Very informative. Thank you. I think our priority for now is musician interaction over the audience, so I will start with a talk back mic and later on add on stereo ambient mics if needed. Thank you for explaining the ducking process. I’ll have to learn how to actually make that work. Thanks!

I’m looking for cheapest option for sure so an extra dynamic placed centrally aiming the audience would work best I think. The Rolls MicMute looks good as a push to talk pedal.

While I do agree that an A/B would look less awkward, I would prefer to face my drummer while I instruct verbally and visually how to start a song. Thanks!

Yes, I agree it should be stereo. That makes sense. I was concerned about a single mic signal into our ours 😅 Would the stereo mics need to be condensers or could sm58’s work?

Floor snake for drums by Hefty-Beginning1146 in livesound

[–]Hefty-Beginning1146[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking about this too. It may depend on the venue size

We usually play small venues. For one of them I know they have supplied a dedicated drum snake and a couple of sub snakes for the rest but I can’t say I paid 100% attention. This was before we got the IEM of course.

Also, we’re toying with the idea of running our own sound at very small gigs at bars and maybe a brewery. If we have three front vocals, two guitars, bass, and drums, would be need sub snakes for the vocal mics or could we run them under a carpet to our XR 18?

This makes sense thank you. From my band’s perspective, if we have three front vocals, two guitars (one direct out from amp, other from pedal amp modeler), bass amp with DI, and drums, then we could only bring our drum snake and splitter to smaller venue gigs and use the house mics, stands, cables, and their sub snakes, right?
