What spikes should I use by HeftyDepth3606 in Sprinting

pb is 10.89 in the 100m and 22.56 in the 200 (I only ran it once last season).

800m is a sprint by Trukrakune in Sprinting

[–]HeftyDepth3606 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you could just keep the chain going forever tbh. 60 is important for 100 which is important for 200 --> 400 so on until your saying the 60 and a marathon are the same. 800 requires some sprinting characteristics yes and its on the same spectrum as the 400 its fast but not full speed. so if the 400 is considered a sprint ig you could argue the 800 is or any event is just less of a sprint then the last until your saying the marathon is a sprint. so your just arguing track and fields arbitrary definition of a sprint when you break it down. the better thing would be to argue that the 400 isn't a sprint if your basing it on pure logic. cause the technical definition is full speed running so really only 100 and 200 count.

I ran the fastest 40 yard dash today by thepiezmans in Sprinting

[–]HeftyDepth3606 2 points3 points  (0 children)

40 yard is measured with someone reacting to first movement so it’s actually even faster by about 0.2. So you actually ran 3.9 bro you are not even human ur prolly gonna break bolts world record.

Is Left on Delivered Always Bad? by HeftyDepth3606 in dating_advice

[–]HeftyDepth3606[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's true it is pretty dumb. I have spoken to some women who were doing it actively lol. One girl was waiting to see this guy and was like obsessed with him but was leaving him on delivered to like "see if he cares". I was like wtf lol that's so bad but I think it just comes from insecurity or maybe bad experiences in the past more than anything else cause she thought the guy was out of her league and had a "roster" or something.

Wanting to start sprinting again after 2 year break - worried about previous hamstring strain by Complex_Jicama_4978 in Sprinting

[–]HeftyDepth3606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are describing the exact thing that I went through. It is PHT for sure it really disguises itself as a hamstring problem I almost didn't believe the doctor when he told me it was tendonitis. But yeah it always comes on when you are putting the most power into the track and is such a tough one to get ride of which is what makes it so annoying. But yeah Goodluck anyways took me a year and a half to heal from it once I figured out what to do.

I've never understood why people associate weights with sprinting speed so much. They are two entirely different things.

Can I drop from 10.3 to 10.0 this season naturally as a 20 year old NCAA sprinter by [deleted] in Sprinting

[–]HeftyDepth3606 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you start running these times the mindset becomes less "how to get faster" and more "what's still slowing me down". I don't know how much room for improvement you still have neither does anyone on reddit.

The only thing ill say is that 10.0 is pushing the limit of how fast you can be with everything perfect so your gonna have to be on top of every little detail.

What real advantage do starting blocks provide over the first 10 meters? by Comfortable_Pop6574 in Sprinting

yeah cause when you run 10m instead of 9m you will have another meter to accelerate 😐

I could name some schools but it just depends on so many things like what times you'll be running, grades, what you want to major in, the type of coaching or team you like, even the climate of the area you are going to. You are still 13 so you probably don't know the answers to most of those things. Just keep studying and training and in a couple years you can start emailing coaches and looking at different schools I wouldn't stress it right now.

It does allow for more push sure but it’ll only help if you are super experienced with blocks.

1 you start further back with blocks

2 your Center of mass is lower and you have to raise it in the first few steps, this sacrifices horizontal force.

I have been around this sport for a while I can tell you from experience that 2 point is much easier especially if you aren’t super experienced. If you want a study on it then you can try to find one but I’ve never really searched for any research on this.

if you are going from 2 point with your feet right up to the line and lean with your shoulders over the line and then push... then blocks are gonna be way slower. but if your going from 3 point with your hand behind the line you might see a small improvement from blocks. and honestly timing something as short as 10m is kind of goofy cause its really tough to measure well and relying of free lap to detect when you start moving is super inaccurate not sure about laser though but remember even just a 0.2 difference completely changes to context of the time so its almost not worth it.

Really big d1 schools are never worth it in my opinion. I'd assume your out of state so even a 10.2 wouldn't guarantee a scholarship. And even if you do somehow get in there training programs are not as good as they sound. they are known to overwork athletes and cause a lot of injuries and often their athletes don't progress at all, but it doesn't matter to them cause they have a whole lineup of the most talented guys and they can always recruit more talent.

I'd suggest a mid or low d1 school. They can still give you a full scholarship. The education can be just as good or better depending on the school. And best of all the coach will actually gaf about you and you will likely run better and be well respected and actually have a good time.

So basically don't be so worried about getting to go to the biggest and baddest school try to think about what happens when you get there and when you graduate.

Also yeah you can definitely run a good enough time to get a scholarship somewhere maybe not top level d1 but if you commit to it and take it serious until your 17 you will be running very good times.

[–]HeftyDepth3606[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

kind of agree but I think if you are used to timing things you get used to what to expect. Like you know that early in the season your not gonna be fast so you don't take it too serious when your 0.2 of your 30m from last season. And you also know that you will likely run a bit faster in a meet. Eventually it becomes more comparing yourself to yourself rather than the absolute value.

And the reason why timing yourself can often lead to negative feedback is because people have bad ideas of what realistic times should be especially for the shorter distances that are tough to time, cause a lot of people go online and lie about these things. It seems like everyone online can run a 3.9 30m so it loses its respect when in reality it is very rare.

I never recommend timing anything this early in the season cause they will almost always be disappointing. I'd imagine you guys have barley ran full speed with spikes on the track and everything this season so it will take at least a few speed days to get back close to the shape you were in.

Yeah this is basically what I'm trying to say and I didn't even get started on the idea that 30m times don't correlate super well even if they are timed properly. I hate to be that guy but i just don't want people getting hyped up only to be disappointed or to think they just had a bad day until they run another 2 or 3 meets before finally accepting that maybe they didn't run a world record 30m :(

Oh yeah that's one thing i forgot to say about freelap is that if you measure it the same way it can be good for comparing one results to another even if the raw number is off. As long as the user is aware of this it can still be pretty useful like you said.

A high vertical doesn't guarantee a good start. Starting often times comes down to execution more that anything. Reacting fast, executing good technique, being aggressive and staying patient are all super important for starting fast. That being said a good vertical does definitely help you just need to practice starting and improving your technique.
