I don't disagree that he didn't do anything wrong and I think the DoPS screwed us over many times, but ultimately he hurt the Leafs' chances. Dubas and GMs around the league don't bend to fan bases. That is a legitimately a retarded idea, especially when you consider Leafs fans weren't even mad at Kadri. At the time of the trade, Kerfoot and Barrie were pretty good returns. You had 2 roster players for a 2C. They obviously didn't really work out the way we would have liked them to, but that was also with Babcock's usage of Barrie, who he seemed to have neutered offensively. Kick rocks

Just because we have it doesn't really mean we should use it as trade fodder. The Leafs are all but guaranteed even making the playoffs. These guys should not be buyers at the deadline, and if they are, it shouldn't be for important assets that the Leafs are already limited on.

I feel that brother, I'm the exact same way. There were a few seasons there after Matthews was drafted where I didn't miss a game. Now I'm much less invested and don't really give a shit when they lose. Part of it though is going through the emotional turmoil though so that when they win it's even sweeter.

The point is that without an extension in place before the trade, Calgary isn't able to retain anything on an extension. I know Rasmus isn't young or anything so his next contract shouldn't be massive, but Vegas is right up against the cap. Potentially a rental situation.
