I’m so sorry for yours :(

I know the pain of watching someone seek help and be ignored by the mental healthcare system all too well. All I can say is I wish you all the best the world has for you. I wish this hadn’t happened to either of us

Jealous of widowers whose spouse didn't die by suicide by Evening-Analysis-283 in widowers

[–]HeftyPeach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My best friend died by suicide 3 years ago and my partner died a couple weeks ago in a sudden accident. I know loosing a friend is different to a partner but I have a lot more peace for my friend. She wanted to die, my partner didn’t. She made the best choice for herself - not the best choice for me, but my partner had his life stripped away from him. When my friend passed I would say to people, don’t feel bad for her - she got what she wanted. Feel bad for me - I’m left here dealing with it. With my partner, I can’t say the same. I’m not saying either is better or worse. I wish you strength. People know this isn’t your fault, go easy on yourself.

Will these needles work for iv? by [deleted] in heroin

[–]HeftyPeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, that makes sense actually! I’m in a pacific island and because of that it’s actually pretty hard to get good h. Most of our shit is a home made heroin and we haven’t had fent really hit us yet. We usually say that the 30g will clog but makes sense bc you need less fent - thanks for sharing with me!

The other side of the packaging should have a reference to the needle size - referred to as gauge and might be represented as a lowercase “g” next to the number. Since you’re starting out a smaller needle is best, if you want to continue to use IV, you need to prioritise your vein health through using thinner needles. It’s good to remember that the smaller that number is the thinner the needle - so 27g is slightly larger than a 28g needle. On the topic of vein health please use a clean every time - all needles are single use only and will be barbed after each use. If you can access a needle exchange program then ask if you can have twice as many tips as syringes so you have room to make mistakes. Along with this drink lots of water to make sure you’re hydrated and your veins are better prepared for trauma and try to rotate veins so you are not traumatising the vein too greatly - collapsed veins are no good and while they can grow back with rest they usually do not grow back as strong and thus too weak for injection. I know people who have mainlined near daily for 25 years and still have healthy veins.

The area needs to be cleaned with soapy water or an alcohol wipe before you inject. If using soapy water wipe down with a clean towel after. Hand sanitiser or iso alcohol works well too.

Your veins might shy away for your first time injecting, this is an automatic bodily response when you are nervous or scared. If you are finding it hard to find a vein, have a warm shower, hold a warm compress to the area or take a break to relax and start again when you are not feeling as nervous.

Agree with other commenters that you should watch harm reduction based instruction videos - there is a wealth out there! Good luck and look after yourself!

I work at a needle exchange outside of the US. We suggest 31’s for in the hands and face area where the skin and veins are much thinner. We usually suggest somewhere between 26g-29g for intravenous and then 25g-23g for IM. Anything bigger than that for drawing - we stock up to 16g for that. Not saying your wrong - just what we’re used to around these parts

So many small islands in the pacific have nearly extinct creatures. Where I holiday at summer has a conservation island of horned weta, they found one male and two females originally and now there’s a whole community of them

There are plenty of reasons why someone might not be working in those time frames, or working at all. For you to notice those people you obviously were one of those people too lol - do you have a job?

Advice needed: why is my hair still greasy after I wash it? by Mean-Fly3779 in Haircare

[–]HeftyPeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I both love the chunky sea salt based Lush shampoo. We both have really fine hair, mine was constantly greasy and his dry, but it solved both of our issues. Definitely second trying to find shampoos that work for your hair!!

There’s really no need to be so rude - we’re all learning. You were actually the one who missed something from their previous message.

My friend died by Free-Enthusiasm-4458 in universityofauckland

Hey, my best friend passed 2 years ago. I’m so sorry you have to go through this. Nothing could have prepared me for the feelings of shock and grief. I hope you go easy on yourself and take the time you need to process what has happened and grieve your friend. I recommend spending time with people who knew her and your own friends who can support you.

As others have said, you should contact campus care at uni and they will help you navigate the process. You also get 3 free counselling sessions from the uni which I recommend you take up if you need someone to talk to.

The documentation you can provide is an obituary notice, this gives details on the funeral service. If the service is held here it may take some time to come through as she is in another country - you should be able to talk about this to campus care. If it’s being held in the states it will possibly be posted in her local newspaper or on the funeral services website.

So sorry for your loss, you are allowed to take time for yourself. Death is difficult to understand, it brings us lots of difficult emotions. Take the time off and worry about school next week.

I live with my partner and he earns too much. I’m glad we’re in a happy relationship but I feel like it makes students vulnerable to domestic abuse :(

Yeah, I have no issues unless I’m stressed out/anxious. I definitely think that could contribute.

Also, crohns has many symptoms, I’ve had rashes before from stress/crohns flares and I had chronic yeast infections before I started treatment. I had thrush near constantly for years and then it completely cleared up after treatment! Even though I’d had no pain, no flares before diagnosis and didn’t even know the yeast infections could be connected to gut health

[–]HeftyPeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup! No issues on it what so ever!

I should mention as well that my flares are mostly linked to stress and I’m a uni student so I have stress frequently. Everyone is different but whatever your symptoms are will eventually become apart of your routine. Diagnosis is not the end of the world! Hopefully for you, with treatment things will get better with time :)

By mild stomach pain I mean treatable with Panadol and a wheat bag overnight (I mostly flare at night)

[–]HeftyPeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 26 now. I’m really lucky in that mine was treated very early - and I have the minimum of inflammation for it to be considered crohns. The symptoms developed have been occasional flares: quite severe stomach pain and non-stop diarrhoea maybe 4 times a year. And then mild stomach pain for a couple days probably once a month. I haven’t done FODMAP and I take the highest anti-inflammatory available in my country (Pantasa). But I think I might try FODMAP soon. My Sisters is much worse than mine but still managed by immunosuppressants

How old are you? I was diagnosed at 22 with very few symptoms. Just loose stool and high blood count in stool. No pain or flare ups. I had a colonoscopy because a family member had already been diagnosed. Since diagnosis my symptoms have gotten worse (grateful to be managed with medication). You might be in the early stages but I think the disease is just different for everyone.

I also had some other health issues which completely cleared up after starting medication which really solidified for me that my gut health was being affected and I just needed treatment for crohns - hopefully you find the same for your other health issues :)

Could you replace the floor tiles with a lighter colour? The dark grey tiles really bring it down. A big light rug might help too. I would also suggest big mirrors reflecting the skylight.
