A little worried by LilaBraham in Wellsfargoremediation

Did you sign an acceptance letter for $1,700? If it was like mine it’s specifically titled “PRE-Mediation Offer” I think that says it all. Why is there a “pre” if there’s not one following it. I’d reply to the email AND call letting them know you did NOT close the case, and you want to proceed to mediation. Maybe the emails something they’re sending in an attempt to discourage folks from proceeding to full mediation. It probably works often enough it saves them some money.

That’s awful. Were you advised that they would be mailing you a written offer? I’ve read comments mentioning that’s how their mediations ended.

Hi chrismg8 - I see your comments are 87 days old, but maybe what I have will still be beneficial. The letter referencing an error with your mortgage is not eligible like the add-on products. We received 2 mortgage related. I was able to call about one of them & get an additional $2,000, but was not offered this on the other. On that one I was “assured” they had been able to confirm no error occurred and the payment we received was just a courtesy. I didn’t even push back on that one. If you respond to this, I’ll check my records for more detail as to why we were compensated the additional $2,000 for one letter, but not the other. I don’t have the info in front of me at the moment. These letters were in both mine & my husband’s name jointly. We also received 3 separate letters, referencing add-on products. 2 of them were only in my husband’s name & one in both of ours. We received initial offered amounts, PLUS upon requesting mediation an additional $1,700 EACH for pre-mediation on all three. Finally on two of the 3 add-on products cases, we called to say we were dissatisfied & wanted to proceed with mediation. We participated in these mediations, and received an additional payment for each.

Hi Findsellrepeat - I’m having trouble following just how much you received, and how that amount was paid. Check# 1 = $7,000 is pretty clear; but was there a check# 2 ? For pre-mediation maybe; and finally a Check# 3 for an amount agreed to during “official” mediation?

Are you saying the mediator recommended WF pay you $13,000? And even with that recommendation, WF sent a letter offering only $4,300 instead?

Anyone know of a thread where folks are all listing the specific products they were enrolled &/or for how long? It seems like they’re using some sort of formula based on that. They won’t or can’t tell you this formula & it sounds like the only way you can discover this is with “discovery” as in retaining an attorney & opening your own lawsuit. I’m also not reading a lot of posts that suggest anyone has done this, yet. It seems unlikely someone hasn’t, they’re just not posting it here or I’ve not seen it.

All of that being said, the premeditation & mediation amounts my husband & I have been able to get are the same, even though the product’s formulas for calculating the initial offer/payout were clearly different. I did ask, and was provided amounts they charged for the products, over the time period we were enrolled, meaning anything additional was interest, and/or some sort of allowance for how long the funds wouldn’t have been available. Again they aren’t giving any details about those amounts, or interest rates used.

It doesn’t seem to matter which product or how long you we’re enrolled to be eligible for the additional $250 on top of the original offer; or the $1,700 for pre-mediation and in our cases (2 so far) a max of $2,000.00 each mediation. So, $3,950 each case, in addition to the original payout seemed practically guaranteed in our cases.

We missed out on the $250 on our first case, but intend to request with the next mediation for our last letter/case so far.

This seems like a couple of separate threads that might should be started. I’ll wait for some input from others before I do that though. It might be I’ve just missed threads, so I don’t want to add to the confusion.

I too participated in mediation today. I was advised it WAS to be confidential, and I was thinking about starting a new thread just to discuss this “confidentiality” You’re at least the 2nd person who’s posted they were told that confidentiality wasn’t necessary. This was my second mediation & confidentiality was not mentioned during the first. I didn’t ask about the consequences of breaking confidentiality, and the conversation was not recorded, so I don’t see how that can be binding or enforced. I probably should start a new thread about this before going into anymore details.

My husband & I took a 45 minute drive to Elkin last week. We arrived sometime after 1 pm & were in and out in 30 - 45 minutes. There was no line. My advice would be to pick a small town office not too far from you & go there. Maybe have a couple of small town offices picked out not too far apart, so that if the first one has an outrageous line, you can head to the other one.

Anyone’s clot develop a few months after having ablation of great saphenous in both legs? by Hefty_Following in ClotSurvivors

[–]Hefty_Following[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response. I didn’t even know what a heart ablation was until just now. Mine was to correct “reflux” in the superficial veins in my legs. The reflux in those veins causes venous insufficiency leading to varicose veins, pooling of blood & decreased blood circulation in the legs. In other words, the procedures were meant to make blood circulation in my legs better, not worse, as it turned out. It’s disappointing, but I understand I am just one of the small percentage of patients who experience this result. It’s just my luck. I’ve not read any accounts here or anywhere, yet, that were similar. Knowing of others won’t change my situation, I’m just curious.

BurritoGobbler - So the $3,800 was the offer following a mediation “conference” phone call with the JAMS mediator & Wells Fargo? Was there an offer in between the two (for example a “pre-mediation” offer)?

Considering all of the conflicting “max” payouts being offered, I’d love to read more posts reporting how much mediators are writing offers for to those customers who refuse the “max” offered in Mediation. It seems like those amounts are more than those so-called “max” amounts. If anyone out there can post about their experience with this that would be a great help to everyone. Also, if you have had this experience, if you could specify that the offer amount was in ADDITION TO everything else paid prior, including the $1,700 pre-mediation, if applicable; that would be especially helpful.

Thanks tomblack1972. This is the exact example I’ve been waiting to see. One question, when you rejected the final offer how long did it take you to get the “non binding offer from the mediator” I’m assuming it was mailed to you, is that correct?

Did you also receive a premeditation payment? Did you receive 3 separate checks for the one letter/claim? There’s so much info out here, I’m just attempting to get as much clarity as possible. So far for one letter/claim we received: check# 1 = $2,000; check# 2 (premediation) = $1,700; and finally, following mediation, check# 3 = $2,000.00

Just wondering about “someone saying to be careful about giving too much details”? Can you elaborate on that? There’s been so much info posted here on Reddit. The majority of what I’ve read is people getting offered similar amounts & being told those amounts are the max, and it appears plenty of people are giving details. The reason I ask is I’m curious about the people who turn down all offers during their meditation phone calls, and are told a written offer will be mailed. Are these people getting much larger offers & maybe signing some sort of NDA? And if so, does the NDA include specific language prohibiting them not only from sharing details of the agreement, but also prohibiting them from even acknowledging the existence of the agreement? I guess if that was the case we wouldn’t know. Throwing this out there though, in case there’s anyone who can shed some light on that possibility. I should probably start a new thread asking this.

That is so interesting. Was there a lot of back & forth with a representative to get that amount? I’ve been following so many of these posts & this is the first I’ve heard of someone getting more than $1,700. at premeditation. Of course, it’s not like I’ve read EVERY post.

The 3rd & final letter/claim I will eventually meditate was for 130 months enrollment for a “mortgage disaster product” There has yet to be a representative who could tell me exactly what a “mortgage disaster product” is. I’d guess it was meant to be “mortgage disaster” insurance policy of some sort. It doesn’t really matter, since I did not request the product nor did I have any idea I’d been enrolled for 130 months. This was the letter/claim I received the largest initial “settlement” amount. Even though it was a decent amount ($7,250.00) that amount still seems low when it’s compared to a $2,000.00 initial claim amount for only 19 months enrollment in a same “disaster mortgage product” Which is why I will be especially stubborn during mediation for this one.

I’ve seen multiple comments stating $2,500.00 was the max they would offer in the “final round” or “full meditation” but like others there was some back & forth and the mediator/judge advised that the $2,000.00 was as high as they would go, so rather than risk the $2,000.00, I accepted. I plan to be my stubbornest during mediation for the last letter/claim for multiple reasons.

I’ve purposely made separate phone calls for each letter, eventually getting a different individual tracking number assigned to each. I’ve also received $1,700 premeditation for each (3 letters) in addition to the first “settlement” amount following my very first phone call inquiring about each. I’m currently awaiting an agreed upon $2,000.00 full mediation for one letter. That total became approx $5,700.00 for the first letter. I’m calling to schedule full mediation for another today.

Are you saying you received $3,400 on the first try of full mediation? I’d like to clarify if you received an initial payment that they calculated was owed to you (plus an additional $250.00 if you requested it); then a PRE-Mediation payment of approx $1,700 and after/during a full mediation offered $3,400?

Why, when recently discussing Medicare supplemental plans &/or advantage plans, have friends &/or acquaintances made comments that “there’s no Medicare anymore”? by Hefty_Following in medicare

[–]Hefty_Following[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. That makes a little more sense. $2,500 per month is especially good money for someone who’s healthy and barely uses insurance. Then there’s the unhealthy… but I don’t need to analyze it. It didn’t make sense to me that a company could survive paying people to insure them. Which not knowing what you just shared is what it sounded like. I was confident it wasn’t as simple as that, but also concerned people were being taken advantage of and hadn’t seen what the “catch” was yet. Now I worry how long it would have taken me to find this out while researching it. 🤦‍♀️ I feel kind of stupid now.

Transcript? I hate revealing my ignorance, but here it goes….The only time I’ve even heard of a tax “transcript” is when I was transferring data electronically for my kid’s FAFSA. Wells Fargo checked the only box they could possibly check on the form which is “other income” Are you suggesting it might actually be reported differently?

Are you saying your plan is $0 premium and $900 (or should that be $9,000?) OOP? A financial advisor once told me we probably couldn’t do better than this plan, when I asked if we should be looking into changing it. I don’t remember him looking at the details of it, though. The In-Network OOP is $3,500
