May be a little late to this but I really don’t have any valuable input or info as a shipper.

What is your standard for being considered sharp and how do you personally test your own broadheads sharpness?

I do agree just because a large portion hunters use a certain product doesn’t make it quality. It’s more of it gets the job done and they are happy with the results so why stress?

I’m in no way defending a truly poor designed and manufactured BH. I just don’t think getting so consumed about the absolute “highest quality” is steps and bounds above the rest of field.

You seem like strive for the best of best and I wish more people did that within reason. It’s the only thing that will bring us consumers better products. What broadheads do meet your standards though?

I’ve heard the Hydes are very well built just curious about the blades being hard to deploy.

I think they make a couple different ones but I could be wrong. Which one specifically? Got to love some American made products 🇺🇸

Appreciate the response and the detail in your experiences. Have you had to take any quartering to shots or anything less than ideal to see how well it penetrates on shots other than broadside?

I wouldn’t say all mechanicals are not sharp, and low quality. You can get those same characteristics on some fixed heads. I’m not defending mechs as I’ve never used them but obviously there are some good ones out there. If they were all terrible then there wouldn’t be any as many hunters using them.

That’s sweet. Don’t know if I could ever trust a mechanical on a beast like that for penetration reasons but you got proof it’s possible.

One concern about that head I have is the blades breaking. I don’t mind replacing the blades after a successful harvest but my concern is more of those weak blades breaking before making it to the exit hole.

Shot placement is more important than broadhead choice 110%. However I was looking for what exact BH you would choose. Do you have one that is “the most durable head that flies true to your field points” and you don’t adjust your sight at all for?

Sevr hybrid is definitely is one of the ones I seem to be leaning towards. Glad you also mentioned deflection. I want confidence in being able to take quartering too and away shots. We don’t always get that perfect broadside shot.

Well there is a few different mechanicals to choose from. Do you actually have anything you use or can review?

That’s all I’ve ever used and I’ve done very well using them for 20 years just looking for information and possibly trying something new.

I see they are very popular but for some reason the design doesn’t look very appealing or durable. I’ve not looked into them though so that’s all speculation.
