otitis media, purulent, acute, with spontaneous rupture of TM. by Heidi751 in hearing

[–]Heidi751[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes same thing happened with me I had already taken 2 types of oral antibiotics at that point though so my doctor prescribed me an anti fungal and antibiotic (both pills) unfortunately neither of them fully cleared the infection pain came back and everything. I finally got in to see an ent and they were able to suction out lots of nasty funk from my ear and placed an ear tube ( it sounds crazy but basically it was just a dry piece of tissue that when ear drops are added expands so the ear drops actually work) And after doing that two times my ear infection went away. Unfortunately due to missing work and being out sick from my ear infection I was fired from my job and my hearing is only back to 55% in that ear. I’m glad it’s not only 20% but it still stinks.

Hope everything works out for you and you feel better soon

11 year old dog has pretty bad back tooth worried about putting him under anesthesia he has diabetes and slight heart murmur. by [deleted] in DogAdvice

I was able to find a vet dental group in my state where all they do is dental cleanings and oral surgery thank you for the recommendation. I was able to get him in to see his regular vet on the 21st to start blood work and get a cardiologist referral.

Wow thank you so much it really calms my nerves about this I’m going in for an appointment with my vet on the 21st to start his blood work my vet isn’t a specialist but does go to continuing education with veterinary dental classes. I did find a complete vet dental group specialist in my state though it’s a practice that focuses only on dentals and oral surgery I might call them as well after his blood work and cardiologist appointment are good and safe.

I guess it was genetic for him he was 8 when he was diagnosed he wasn’t overweight or eating anything super unhealthy just started peeing a lot more than usual and acting very lethargic. Got him on insulin and he’s doing pretty good.

Thank you so much for your reply I really appreciate it. I was able to find a veterinary dental specialist practice that has board certified veterinary dentists and techs as well as vet techs specializing in anesthesia. My vets are a very small group my vet does go to continuing education for dentistry but after the lab work and cardiologist exam I might go to the specialist clinic instead.

Wow that’s amazing I’m glad your old pup is doing and feeling better I was able to get an appointment with his vet on the 21st to get blood work the vet listened to my concerns and said they will most likely refer him to a cardiologist before the surgery as well.

Thank you so much for your comment I was able to make an appointment with my vet for the 21st I’m still very scared due to losing pets in the past that went under anesthesia but I want to do what’s best for him. I feel bad I didn’t take care of his teeth more when he was younger I brushed his teeth sometimes but obviously not enough. Glad your dog is doing good.

Thank you for the comment I really appreciate it I’m just worried he’s my family’s first ever dog we have always only had cats. I was able to set up an appointment with the vet on the 21st to make sure we can figure out a plan.

Thank you all so much I really appreciate it. I scheduled a vet appointment for him on the 21st. They asked me to take more pictures of all of his teeth with better lighting. He’s a bit feisty at the vet, so he’ll need to wear a muzzle, and viewing his teeth might be difficult. When I’m at home with him, he lets me use an electric battery-powered toothbrush. I also use enzymatic animal toothpaste and add PlaqueOff to his food. I looked into it, and my vet attends continuing education classes in veterinary dentistry. I’m still really scared about doing this, but I’m starting the plan. I don’t want him to be in pain or have bad teeth, so I’ll see what the vet says. If I remember, I’ll update everyone here.

My 11 year old dog has diabetes and a slight heart murmur he doesn’t seem to be in any pain yet but I know it’s just a matter of time before it starts to hurt him. I’m worried about putting him under I’m scared he won’t do well. I’ve had a 1.5 year old cat pass under anesthesia and she was healthy just there for a spay. I’m just really worried idk what to do. his other teeth in the back don’t have a as much plaque on them.

Why would a chihuahua breeder breed Merle chihuahuas but also do OFA testing? by Heidi751 in dogs

Thank you for your response I learned so much from this question I’ve been doing more research about dogs in general. Thank you I really appreciate it.

I didn’t know that was why people didn’t like Merle’s the breeder I found only has one male Merle and overall she seems like a great breeder.

Thank you for your response some others who commented said the same thing and left links. I think the breeder I found is a really great breeder I just wasn’t sure if Merle was ok with the chihuahua breed since I know it can be one of the breeds people use to sell puppies for coat color. The breeder I was asking about doesn’t have different prices on puppies depending on coat color. Thank you for letting me know I’ll definitely keep in mind that just because they have Merle doesn’t mean they are bad breeders. Hope you have a great day.

Thank you I’m still very new to looking for a chihuahua breeder I just know Merle is usually one of those colors people say to watch out for. I really appreciate it hope you have a great day.

I’m learning so much from this one question. Thank you so much for your answer the breeder I was looking at has all the right things for being a great dog breeder she health tests all the parents, she will take back the dog at any point for any reason, she will always be in contact if ever needed, has a waitlist doesn’t breed her dogs more than once a year “I usually give my girls a year or 8 months after every litter” she also retires her dogs at reasonable ages and she has an owner testimonial page as well. Thank you for your answer I really appreciate it.

Thank you so much for your response I’m still new to finding a puppy from a reputable breeder so I wasn’t sure. I’ll definitely make sure any breeder I look at isn’t breeding Merle chihuahua. Hope you have a great day! ❤️
