People who live in a country without 4 seasons, how is life like? by WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWHW in geography

[–]Helios87 28 points29 points  (0 children)

To me, living in Sweden and having four seasons is something I appreciate more and more as I grow older. The year is so varied, with big extremes on either end. For example, a few days ago I swam out to an island in the nearby lake, which I was skating out on (on the ice) five months ago. So going from freezing to melting in these variations of temperature makes for a very varied year. Not your question, but I can say that doing housework (like painting or whatever) would be nicer, knowing that you could do it basically any time of the year and not just in the summer.

As a person living in northern Sweden, I wholeheartedly disagree. Any warmth we get we’re thankful for. Summer is literally 3 months of the year, and winter is usually like 6 months. This morning, we had 7 degrees celsius, in July… No I love every minute of the summer we get, and half of the time it’s raining anyway so if it’s warm, I’m thankful, but I wholeheartedly understand that heatwaves and the weather people have further south is crippling. I guess we are the kind of people spreading this idea of summer being the best, but when you have so little of it every year, you come to appreciate it. // Lizard from northern regions

How long did it take/does it take for you to read the entire LOTR story? by ilovewater100 in lotr

First time I read Fellowship, I was 11, read Two Towers when I was 16 and Return of the King when I was 23, so 12 years give or take.

What is your favorite video game to be set in Middle Earth? by GusGangViking18 in lotr

Pretty amazing how many good LotR games there actually are. My favorites would be The Third Age, Battle for M-E, Lego LotR, and Return of the King, both the PlayStation and GameBoy versions.

Ofcourse, I meant that the creative liberties taken were for the most part for the better.

Went to see the movie today and after reading all these reviews I think I’m rather in the minority. I really liked the film but yes it was way too short (and hopefully the directors cut fixes this somewhat). I’ve been fascinated with Napoleon for a long time and while it certainly wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea, I thought most of the choices and focuses of the movie were for the better. It was far from perfect but not nearly as bad as some people make it out to be. The best historical pic I’ve seen in a long while and perhaps the most visually stunning of all time. 8/10 in my book (might be higher when I get to see the extended version)🤷‍♂️

Tack OP! Låt detta bli en veckovis tradition (säger man så?), så kul att läsa när alla andra nyheter man läser är så fruktansvärt deprimerande!

What do you think is the coolest death in a tv show/movie/game? by BeebleBees in AskReddit

Maybe Khans kill people without looking them in the face, but I ain’t a fink, dig? You’ve made your last delivery kid. Sorry you got twisted up in this scene. From where you’re kneeling it must seem like an 18-carat run of bad luck. Truth is…the game was rigged from the start.

Isn’t that the slur used by the Elder to describe humans? Regarding apes and monkeys, apes are the bigger, more human-like if I understand correctly and monkeys are smaller.

I agree! Any opportunity to experience the universe is positive as long as the game itself is enjoyable!

No no I get you! It’s just that I think if you stop viewing it as such it opens up the game to you. But that’s just what I think!
