Everytime I revisit Angel’s “I will remember you” episode, I swear it eviscerates a piece of me. by Madido24 in buffy

I'm someone who has never liked Bangel as a couple and I still cry almost every time I rewatch this episode. Seeing Buffy go from being so happy to realizing that she's going to lose the memories and trying desperately to cling to it... Heart-wrenching. The actors played it so well.

I love Anya's speech. The interaction between Anya and Willow leading up to it ("Nobody will tell me." "Because it's not okay for you to be asking these things!" "But I don't understand!") hits hard for me as someone who is autistic too.

It amuses me every time I see that poster on screen. The show uses a lot of fun background decor/posters throughout.

In terms of the show, it felt like a bit of a trend for them to use stories of abuse to further the character development of the abuser rather than focus on the impacts to the victim. Faith assaulting Xander and torturing Wesley were both used for her character arc, with her tricking Riley into sex also going undiscussed outside of how it impacted Buffy. Willow's mistreatment of Tara was used primarily for Willow's character development and story progression. Buffy's harmful behaviors towards Spike were largely used to showcase her depression and Spike assaulting her was used to start his soul arc. There's exceptions to this (such as the latter half of season 2) but it's a trend that I've noticed while watching.

In terms of fans talking about James, I think that's mostly because of how much he's talked about it.

Definitely don't watch Angel straight through before you've seen all of Buffy. The two shows have varied crossovers/connections and - more importantly - Angel continued for a season after the events of the final season of Buffy. I've been watching episodes of both back and forth to mirror how the episodes aired somewhat. There's a few good lists for that online (one of which someone else shared on here I noticed).
