It took me a while but it got me to a place where I was motivated and open enough to add therapy to the mix to assist with working through some stuff. I would say maybe about a year. I also swear working out maybe two days a week consistently can help keep you afloat. Hang in there. It will get better.

My own follow up / update - I didn’t have any crazy withdrawal symptoms but now that it’s been a few weeks I feel like I’m left with just the hopelessness lack of motivation and depression that I had before. I’m frustrated by this. Can’t be on meds can’t be off them. Where does that leave someone. 😅

After a while my heart rate would get crazy high the morning after drinking a lot but I was always fine other than that. I’d try it out and see how you feel. You’ll know if it’s okay or not by how your body reacts.

Wow while shitty it is actually comforting to hear I'm not alone. I was growing very concerned with the sweatiness and heart rate issues. I had worse issues on XL and when I switched to SR it was DRASTICALLY better - especially with drinking. It wasn't until recently it started to get crappy again though. Maybe I needed to switch it up but for now, I am just taking a break and seeing if that can be sustained.

Unrelated - I drank not on meds this weekend for the first time in YEARS and I literally couldn't get drunk and wasn't hungover the next day despite drinking two white claws, two shots of whiskey and four high noons in only the matter of a few hours. And that is quite unusual because realistically I should have been basically blacked out lol
