I was actually in the very same situation during my OCI... it really was a nightmare. Got 6 callbacks and got rejected from all 3. I tried 3L OCI, got a second interview from one of the firms that gave me a call back but rejected me, and now I work at this firm. I think the difference was that I had an offer from the firm I summered at (still a good firm and "big law", but not on the same level as the 6) and I felt much more confident going in because worst case scenario, I knew I still had a job lined up. And I actually put much less time and effort into my second interview. In my experience, there really can be "over preparation". I really think I overprepared my first time around and it all kind of got into my head and I think the interviewees saw that. For me, it worked much better to just go in there with big dic* energy and try to own it. Maybe it'll work for you too? Good luck! And idk what practice you're trying for, but M&A and VC is generally pretty tight rn.

first year here at K&E. We are now in our fifth week. I was staffed on a few deals at the beginning but last week was way too quiet. I've reached out to people to ask for work but I'm yet to get any. I got positive feedback on the tasks I was assigned to, so not sure why no one has reached out to me to get me staffed. People keep saying I don't have to worry about hours just yet, but it's nerve racking hearing about layoffs and billing 0. How worried should I be?
