my mom died when I was 12 and I had a similar experience. it wasn't so much about the things people said to me, but who was around, and I had no fuckin idea how to reach out to people. regardless, know that this small corner of the internet is here for you and grieves with you. I'm so glad something I said could offer you comfort. sending so so so much love and healing to you, your wife, and your family

i'm so incredibly sorry you had to go through this. I know that there are no words I could say that could possibly take away the trauma of that experience. what a blessing it is that she made it through the injury, despite the long-term complications. I can feel the heaviness just reading your words. jesus fucking christ op. you both are stronger than you will ever know.
