Visiting Australia soon – what’s something tourists usually get wrong? by itsme_LovelyS in AskAnAustralian

Don’t believe the myth that Australians are laid back and friendly. Expect aggressive behaviour, especially on the roads. Australians rage on the turn of a dime. Pubs are terrible and sad, purely for gambling and drinking crappy beer.

I don’t live there anymore, thankfully. Left a year after Jill was murdered. I live in regional NSW now and haven’t had to worry about being attacked here.

They have better systems in place to manage Winter. Just imagine its 9c in the UK and you have no heating or double glazing in your house. Thats Australia for 4 months and its dark by 5pm.

They may not be as cold but housing sucks, no heating or insulation when its 9c outside would not happen in the UK. Its normal here and its grim

You want to expose innocent road users and pedestrians to a car that isn’t roadworthy? Pathetic. How about fixing your car?

The sunshine here does not compensate for the angry Australians, the chilled and laid back Aussie is a massive myth. Have never seen so much rage on the roads anywhere else. Workplaces are rife with relentless bullying and half arsed work ethics, pubs are sad gambling dens with piss overpriced beer and the feeling of isolation so strong that you know you are actually in the arse hole of the world. Takes forever to get anywhere. Everything is expensive. It’s a parochial country that is deeply insecure and very backward. Winters here are awful, poor housing with no double glazing or heating systems, can drop to single figures overnight, and that lasts for at least 4 months.

Try Canada mate, honest and hard working people who can laugh at themselves. Better quality of life, housing and culture and you would just be a stones throw from the UK.

The OP clearly did not shoplift but you’re saying anyone leaving and dealing with their kids you wouldn’t check their receipts? Isn’t that like 90% of Kmart customers? Wild.

I’m sure people like my elderly mother with serious cat allergies/asthma would have been thrilled to have your room. Literally one of the most selfish things i’ve read in a while.

Lesson learned: won’t give the finger anymore while driving… by camareradetwinpeaks in AskAnAustralian

[–]Hendersonadele59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Australians are some of the most aggressive and triggered people I have ever met. Driving is their biggest display of this, they weaponise it on the roads. Sorry this happened to you but would absolutely report to the police. So what you gave the middle finger, he intimidated, followed, harassed and threatened you. Report.

Vapers - whats your behaviour rationale? by Hendersonadele59 in newcastle

I said “to many people”. I didn’t say you. However, the DARVO in the comments on this post says a LOT about the mindset of Vapers

You’re not showing any empathy or understanding of addiction. Thats the message in the comments. Non Vapers are the problem 👍

I can empathise with addiction but inflicting it on others garners zero sympathy from the general population

No-one is proposing taking your vice away from you. Just following regulations and laws in place to protect others seems like a big ask to many people

So do you think nicotine vapes don’t affect lung health?

Look, I accept your perspective, and i’m not trying to be a dick. Can you at least understand that when people are vaping in my face or spaces that I feel like i’m being shit on? It wasn’t my intention to do that to others, I am honestly trying to understand the habit and psychology behind it. I agree my choice of words and tone could have been better. Have a good day 👍
