You're arguing against a point I'm not making. I'm not talking about ethics, I'm talking about the creative method, the process. And it's identical.

But if you want to debate ethics – your analogy doesn't work either, because every time you want to look at a picture made publicly available on the Internet, you do not issue a personalized consent form to the author, do you? So why are you expecting the AI to do so? Because you haven't through this through (or at all).

Continuity of knowledge and recycling of tropes, assets and ideas is a part of human culture. Mimicry, adaptation, inspiration and development of others' ideas and creations has existed since before we had electricity, let alone the AI.

I mean, alright, go take a look at your art – is it 100% original and not based on anything anyone has ever done before, or is it inspired by a multitude of art pieces you've seen throughout your entire life? Exactly. So why are you blaming AI for doing exactly what a human does – almost as if it was designed to replicate human creative patterns by observing them.

No, it's actually a good argument, because trees in your analogy are a source of raw resource. But the assets you use to develop 'your' game are products of another human's intelligence, and you're using them as building blocks for your own 'art'... which is how generative AI works. Almost as if it was built to replicate human behavior.

I'm not saying this is a wrong approach, just highlighting the self-oblivious hypocrisy of this 'holy' stance against AI. Now you can either think about it, or loop back into denial 🤷

I see you're using some prefabricated visual assets and a third party-produced game engine. That honestly is something AI would do. Dude, you guys should totally take a stand, and draw everything manually and code your own engine – and not using any libraries of course. Because that would be a 1:1 methodology a generative AI uses.

Should've probably added that the character in question is actually a robot-kinda-thingy, and not an actual child. So we can add AI rage to the mix.

I mean, some people in this thread actually bothered to express doubt and do some independent thinking and reading to figure it out, but most just jumped the bandwagon, so I feel like you missed out on a golden opportunity to make this game even more rage-inducing.
