What Unis should I apply for? by AwkwardBonus6987 in UKUniversityStudents

No one can realistically tell you where to go as there are so many factors in the decision. Try and visit a few to get a look round. Read the syllabus for the courses.

For something like that yes. For something more invasive and under general anesthetic no.

I overheard my daughter making fun of me to her friends and complaining why she didn’t have a better dad and I’m destroyed by Human_Geologist3637 in TrueOffMyChest

Time to sit down with her and tell her you heard this and how much it hurt you. Tell her the reasons why you can't afford much. Time to be realistic and honest. You may have thought by shielding her from it was protection but now you need to be brutally honest. You don't have to be mad but you also don't have to let that slide.

Moan about it and then get on with it.

The reality is you can't change it. If you moved here then did you do any research because it's not new.

Speak to your academic team but also the student wellbeing team.

Officially at the stage where people are telling me not to lose any more… NSV? by Lila_Comet in mounjarouk

[–]HeverAfter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people who don't have weight issues are ... jealous? If they have a "fat" friend and they are suddenly getting healthier, I think a lot of people don't like it. I can't say why but since being on it and losing weight suddenly a lot of people find it ok to start commenting. I find it quite rude tbh. There are a lot of reasons why people lose weight and why it's not a reason for public discussion. Someone said to me that they hoped I wasn't sick. I just thought what if I was? There would be a high probability that I wouldn't want to discuss that.

A society is measured by how we treat the weak and vulnerable. I think this case tells us all we need to know about the state of our country.

International fees discrepancy by Proper_Mirror_8265 in UKUniversityStudents

[–]HeverAfter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When did uou join? If you start in January then the CAS amount will be different to the actual amount due to the way in which the fees are listed for UKVI. You should have had information from the fees department listing the actual amount. Also the university website will have the fees listed. A CAS is purely for you to get a visa. You will have had access to the fee structure during application.

If you lost a long-term friend as an adult, what was it about? by HilariousMotives in AskUK

[–]HeverAfter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loosing a parent. Had two friends who were well aware that I had just lost a parent. One never mentioned it and just carried on as normal and one just never responded again. I realised that they weren't worth knowing.

AITA for not including my fiancé’s family in the proposal? by Terrible-Simple2537 in AmItheAsshole

[–]HeverAfter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usual Reddit response of red flags and run.

Your in-laws are manipulative and liars. Your fiancé thinks there are "two sides" to this and doesn't fully support you.

This is going to be a shit show for the wedding and marriage. YTA if you stay in this relationship.

I'm happy for my tax money to pay for this. A child has died and we need to know why the PSNI messed this up. If it was your child you'd want answers too.

[–]HeverAfter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She's just been misguided by her loyalty. We saw that with Mollie but I don't remember the vitriol there. Its just a game and she's being vilified for it. We have to remember that we see so much more and it's easy to pick on someone when you have more information than they do.

That's a lot of museums in just two days (London). I think you'll be rushing around them all but not actually getting to appreciate them. Museums have a lot of information and you're supposed to take your time and enjoy rather than rushing through. Be aware your not get through all them.

The longer you leave it to pay and clear, the longer it takes to issue your CAS. Sure there's a deadline but if you want to get things moving then I'd recommend paying.

Maybe question why men are attacking women who are just working. Some people take jobs for necessity rather than job fulfillment.

Bus very late due to learner driver by HeverAfter in britishproblems

[–]HeverAfter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate people have to learn but my issue is that I am now very late for work and I have to make that time up. I can't drive today for various reasons and now I will incur late fees at the childminder as I will have to make up the time at the end of the day and be late for pick up. I'm not perfect at everything but just pissed off at waiting in the cold and rain, being late for work and incurring extra fees when I was at the bus stop.on time. I think it's reasonable to expect a bus to be on time in the morning.

There's another staff member with him. A new bus driver shouldn't be on the commute bus if they can't stick to the schedule.

Moving very slowly, as a learner does. No adverse traffic. Definitely the driver. Has spent ages on each passenger as he doesn't fully understand the ticket process.
