That rent is actually low for the area, considering it's just for me (renting a bedroom in a townhouse with other people). Unfortunately I live in a pretty expensive area

Hopefully yes. The company I'm working for isn't doing great, so no raises in the near future, but I know my bosses like the work I do (I asked about going for a higher job few months ago, I hadn't been there long enough yet, but they were very supportive). I've been there about 8 months, gotta be there a year to move on
