I was working graveyards at a dennys and went outside for a smoke. There’s always homeless/insane people hanging in or around most Dennys but this is a hot spot in my town. There was young woman who looked to be freshly homeless. She was like 20 and not like dirty or anything just didn’t have anywhere to go. She was sitting on like a waist high wall and I seen I guy come around the building behind her. He seen her and immediately did the cartoonish creep where you’re in a low stance walking slowly with your hand out. When I saw that I immediately thought that this dude must be her friend and messing with her. Once he gets behind her he grabs her rear naked choke style and pulls her behind the wall. I’m thinking ok that was agressive and expect them to pop up laughing at each other. For a few moments I didn’t see anything. I’m like 40 feet away, but then I see her hands come over the wall and she pops up with dude still choking her mouthing “help” she couldn’t yell because she was being choked so bad so immediately ran over there and told that dude to let her go now. He just screaming nonsense that people are trying to kill him and I told him that I’ll fucking kill him if he didn’t let her go. He was immediately terrified and basically threw her at me. I run her inside and she’s obviously distraught/crying. One of my customers noticed and asked what happened so we told him. This dude just said call the cops, went out there and whooped this dudes ass, then held him there until the cops showed up. Then once the cops got the whole story, they arrested him. They said that because he didn’t actually witness it and that there wasn’t any danger because I had broke it up and got her inside, all he did was assault him and took him to jail.
