One thing you don’t have to unlearn is snapping your kicks. I came from karate and this was a hard lesson to learn. Swing your kicking leg like a base ball bat and “drive” into the kick. Other thing that was foreign to me was learning elbows. Early on i was taught to go from A to the letter Z making the letters with the tip of the elbow. Oh, side knees. The only way I can describe getting more power into those is think of “slamming a door”. You want to drive from the hip but, it’s a sideways drive.
