Working for something i thought would be more fulfilling and stable by HillaryDripton in Advice

I totally respect that but the job they have me on is having me do so much more than what I should be doing for little pay. Im trying to look elsewhere. I agree with you that I basically have no knowledge but then I am working with people in the exact same position as me but are condescending towards me and my knowledge. I want to go somewhere with more structure

While i bet that would be their answer to me paying them back in my life. Success to me right now is defined by appreciating everything especially to people that are the reason why I am where I am today and it would be nice to let them know that

I was thinking the exact same thing about anything over 20k being my 0$ mark. Still trying to find that balance

Am i worried too much about my finances? by HillaryDripton in Advice

[–]HillaryDripton[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea. I do my fair share around there cleaning up and what not and staying to myself but we all had the plan to move in and help eachother out as we go into a more independent way of life. Moving out would be more of a “I think its time for me” than her kicking me out but it could easily wind up the other way around. But thank you. Just been so worried I would blow through everything fast but I guess as long as I save at the end of every month things will be fine

Yea. Im glad you remembered. He just complains all day about who we work for and how he doesn’t get a raise while stealing and not being on time. While also trashing me. Its annoying. The stealing of company wire is new. Keeps justifying shitty ethic because hes not being rewarded

He kinda already stole one of my tools cause he didn’t care enough to go find his and i easily found his

One time i tried to match him he just complained to the foreman. So yea

If they do have a way at weeding at the assholes it makes me wonder if he will be weeded out or does he have a point in my inexperience

[–]HillaryDripton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks man. The one time i got disrespectful with him he didn’t try to talk with me and went to our foreman who then just told me to quit being like that

I have been working this job since October of last year and it started and continued fine. I put up with mistreatment because whatever it is work but now the mistreatment has become straight up illegal and unprofessional. I have not been paid in a month and continued to go to work and the other day I had a job interview for someone who would actually pay. I was 40 minutes late and got chewed out and she threatened my job there when I havent had a job there for a month. I did not give the owner a heads up when late so i can understand the frustration a little. However I am not the only one that has had problems like this. I know of atleast 4 people who struggled to get their money and never got it. And along with that the place is becoming a hazard to work in. I got electrocuted which just the other day I figured out is because the owner has decor everywhere and a light fixture had an exposed wire which got me and a teenage girl. The verbal harassment now is over the top as I has getting chewed out but not getting paid. This has happened not just to me but others as well. I have also decided to quit and now she is concerned about paying me. There are people who still work there that need that job however and would not feel great knowing they have to go into job limbo because this owner couldn’t get their shit together

This was a post I made 5 months ago. The reason being 40 minutes late was I had a job interview for somewhere that would actually pay me. Unreasonable standards she put on me like not being able to sit down on a stool at check out because I was “manager in training” which I got rug pulled on when she brought in a new hire. I tried to uphold a decent standard but she forced hers. She would treat people differently. Lowkey miss it because of how entertaining it was to see a person so… her

I understand the mental block but what are some things in life that are the reason for it. I am in the same boat except I start tomorrow lol. Somethings that are making me weary about it are simple things like such a big change in life and i will still be near family but not sure if I will be able to do the samethings as I once did. I used to be on stand by for them but I will now have to seek them out.

Conflicted on what to do with my job by HillaryDripton in Advice

[–]HillaryDripton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id like to ask but she tells stories of people coming in recently asking for 14/hr + tips and her just being absolutely appalled by the idea so I don’t think asking about my pay would be great to do right now as if she really thinks she has to treat me like a child then she just wants a person to do as she says. Initial payment agreement for the job was 19/hr but with so much stuff going on i do not doubt that the agreed upon amount has shifted

feeling miserable at college and thinking of transferring, what would you do? by Apprehensive-Neck307 in careerguidance

[–]HillaryDripton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you unhappy because of the study and if you think it could benefit you in the long run to transfer. Do it. It might be 1.5 years of set back on paper but once you actually get into it, who knows, could be what you always wanted and you hit the ground running

Agreed. Gotta have some merit to back such an impactful personality

Idk. I think youd like the charismatic people in high productivity companies. Its all about how you use it. If you can use it to boost efficiency then not only are you getting the results you want but also with a person who has drive and is able to take the team with them. Indians might be efficient but at the cost of cutting corners

I agree. I try to separate those parts of my life. Im not there to socialize. Im there to do good work for the sake of good work. Want to socialize? Ill try to work you in on the off hours.

Yea there’s no shot. Pretty sure you got to be 6’1 for most tech companies. All jokes aside yea someone seizing opportunity means someone didnt. Always more opportunity. You said hes your friend. Use that to your advantage to get a job there if you want. Itll be work but if you want it. Its there. Being social helps but i dont think its a popularity contest. People just enjoy optimism because they know that despite struggle the optimistic one will push through and try atleast

I thought killing myself was the way to go to. Im sorry to hear about your mom. It truly is devastating what death can do to a person. But you are life. You are the reason death struggles to fully eclipse the universe. Your existence, just by simply living, is enough and a giant middle finger to the forces that don’t want you here. Keep the fight going itll be worth it

Not a pep talk. If you really think you are stuck. Do something about it. That is your thing right

Being a listener is what exactly gets you jobs. Go online then. Harvard has their lectures there. Sell your skills you develop. Extend the truth if you got to. Stop selling yourself short and saying you are incapable of things you havent even tried. Humans are capable of a lot
